The Freak had one of my favorite careers. Had his hip not gave out on him, and he stayed healthy... That's a scary thing to think of. 2 no hitters, 2 Cy Young Awards and 2 World Series rings. Pretty close to Hall of Fame IMO

OMG I have an idea MLB should do to get people into watching it more. The NFL does a primetime game as the first game of the year. The MLB should do the same thing. Hype it up two of the best teams head to head the only game on that night and have it being like a playoff atmosphere. That would help MLB so much.

@@Will97675 I think a combination of throwing harder and teams not developing their prospects properly -- handling young minor league pitchers with kid gloves, and this way they never learn to handle the rigours of a long start. And, as you say, they still get hurt! I don't know if the people in charge of MLB realize how much this is hurting the game. Pitching aces used to be rock stars. Now everyone's a reliever. It's so much less interesting. This era we see in this video (10-15 years ago) was the last gasp for the days of great starting pitching.

Blame ownership a bunch of fragile boomers who don’t want to lose a cent on the money they spend on these pitchers. They treat them like a Ferrari that they’ll baby and not take out so it will last longer and keep its value. They care more about money than winning. Pitchers absolutely have no say in how many inning they will pitch each game. My girlfriends father works in a MLB front office and after a few drinks at a cookout he’ll spill all kinds of things to everyone listening

@@hmor The Blue Jays have a prospect in their minor league system named Ricky Tiedemann -- frequently ranked very high on most top prospects lists. He started 11 games last year and threw for 32 innings. That's an average of less than 3 innings per start. And he's still hurt all the time. It's just absurd. This guy doesn't even know what's it's like to pitch late into a game.
