    I remember this. Both teams had been warned before the game saying there was zero tolerance for the rest of the series. Hard to say if it was intentional or not, mainly because Kershaw said to Parra the game before that he was going to hit him, but either way, can't say it wasn't justified.

    Similar thing happened in game 7 of the world series with McCullers Jr. Up 5-0 in the World Series and hits 4 batters, isn't ejected though. If umpires really have that much of a different opinion, perhaps a rule should just be made that if a pitcher hits 3 batters in a game, they're automatically rotated out, not ejected. Seems a fair compromise.

    Most of the time, I agree with umpire rulings. Even those times when I don't, I understand why each decision was made. However, I can't wrap my head around this one. I don't know if Arizona hit any of the Dodgers in the previous innings, but if you're throwing a one hitter, looking for the 19th win of the year, and only have a two run lead, why would he intentionally hit the guy? I actually think this was a bad call :(

    JayhawkJazzy The previous night Parra hit a home run and took too long running the bases, or something. Something he did rubbed the Dodgers the wrong way, and Kershaw basically threatened to bean him the next day. So the umpires were ready to give him the heave-ho.

  • @BasedWindex

    +luissantoyoo27 Still, I find that harsh to throw Kershaw out. Vendetta or not, Kershaw was pitching a shutout, as well as the fact that this was an 0-1 pitch that looked nothing more than an inside pitch that got away. You look at most hit-by-pitches (intentional ones) and you see it's either right in the ribs/back or in the thighs, not on the hands. Even with what happened the game before, that umpire's leash was way too short.

  • @hazelwood55
    @hazelwood559 жыл бұрын

    When I first saw it I thought "No way that was intentional". Then I looked at the YT video "Parra's antics anger Dodgers-September 13, 2011" and after Parra hits a homer he stands and admires it, pissing off the Dodgers. @ :33 of that video Kershaw is seen screaming at Parra(Wait until tomorrow. Maybe?). Yeah, it was on purpose.

  • @calebjames1321

    @calebjames1321

    If he wanted to drill him, he would in the ribs not the elbow. He’d also probably do it earlier in the game, not when he’s pitching a shutout. Why would he intentionally bring up the tying run to the plate with no outs? Definitely not intentional

  • @etang004
    @etang0049 жыл бұрын

    Anyone of you who has followed Dodgers since 2011 would know that he had some words with Gerardo Parra from dugout the night before after he pimped a home run off Hong Chih Kuo. Parra wasn't exactly thrilled by Kuo's earlier wild pitch that sailed near his head. This was intentional on Kershaw's part. He was just sticking up for Kuo.

    Vinci Nguyen Hitting three batters is not an automatic ejection you fool. The reason Kershaw was ejected was because the night before Parra did some showboating and Kershaw was upset about it so there was previous history. Have no idea where you came up with the automatic ejection rule. That doesn't exist.

    I don't know how hard the ball hit him, but it was over a foot to the left of the base. The ball was in front of the umpire's right arm when it hit the batter. I don't think a professional can get that far off target by accident, and if he can, he shouldn't be in the game.

    Ernest Bywater it's called getting the batter off the plate. You throw close to them so they'll be afraid to crowd the plate which makes it easier to throw away.
