True that. I don't know why announcers make a big deal about a warning. An ump can throw out a guy if it's a pitch that could injure without warning at any time. I know that teams feel like if a starter is thrown out it's a disadvantage, but with the universal DH and pitch counts, it really doesn't matter as much anyway unless it's an ace.

I’m not from the US but I get the impression that the umpire’s theatrics and flambouyant gestures are part of the game. Is that counted as a ball and the hitter walks to first base?

The comments here, and from the commentators always surprise me. These are PROFESSIONAL pitchers. If you miss the plate by a foot, and that is what we are talking about here, your control is not up to scratch and you SHOULD be ejected.

From a spectator’s point, it could look less than expected. However, the umpires may have some expectations of what had just happened. ( A few umps are in outer space of course ). Usually they have some inside knowledge of what may have just happened. ??

Warning shots that are close inside, fine. You want to warn the batter to not do something. Intentionally hitting him and getting tossed out is a perfect response. Should get suspensions to it.
