I know, I felt the same way when Jim Henson died and the voices changed. I guess we can’t expect the same people to do the voices forever, they get older, their voices change, but I will say the new voice is a little too different.

For part of that show Kermit was dating Denise, but she broke up with him on that show because she believed he still had feelings for Piggy. Kermit and Miss Piggy ALMOST got back together at the end of that show, he even confessed he loved her, but the show ended on a cliffhanger before being cancelled. According to interviews and their individual twitter accounts they are still broken up, which would explain why they are sort of touchy on subjects of their relationship. They have always been on again off-again, plus interviews over the years have always led to conflicting statuses, adding in the question of if interviews are canon, non canon, secondary canon, etc. It seems their relationship is back to how it was the in the original muppet show, the chaser-and-the-chased relationship, and y’know what? I’ll take it until Disney apologizes with a tear-jerking reunion lol.

No, you watched two of the most world-famous Muppets give us some of their spare time to answer most Googled questions for WIRED. They are both icons.

Their dynamic as exes is so much easier for me to watch than when they were still together. In fact, since I wasn't spending the whole thing thinking "BREAK UP WITH HER," the jokes landed very hard and this was the hardest I've ever laughed at Kermit and Miss Piggy having a conversation.

Missed opportunity. Piggy had always described Kermit's eyes as "like two ping-pong balls, floating in a pond of green algae."

I respect the new person doing Kermit, and I know he's doing his best and we'll all get used to it in time. However, I still think the guy (Ricky) who did HamilMuppets should be cast as every Muppet, permanently.

Yeah, he doesn’t really sound like Kermit, but I’m sure he’s doing what he can. 🙂 I also think it’s ridiculous how people are treating Matt Vogel as if he was the one who fired Steve Whitmire. 🙄 Whatever is the truth with the whole Disney-Muppet-Whitmire thing, Matt is not a part of it. He just took over because they needed somebody to take over.

A lot of people don’t know this but Steve stated that he and Matt had a private conversation after he was fired, mostly without words, although he did state that Matt wasn’t pleased with Disney’s decision but he gave Matt his blessing and wished him the best. His Kermit is beginning to grow on people, and I agree that his singing is superb, but everybody is their entitled to their opinion. (Something one extremist so-called Muppet fan who shall remain nameless can’t wrap his head around.)

Bear in mind that Matt hasn't had two feature films, a TV series and regular spots on Sesame Street plus direct-to video material and specials to refine his performance as Steve had done by this point in his run as Kermit. He's just had short interviews, YT clips and a D+ series which is basically short clips stuck together

Matt Vogel (Kermit's new performer since 2017) just dosen''t capture Kermit's voice the same way Steve Whitmire did. It sounds like an attempt to capture the original Jim Henson portrayal. He's got the tone down, but doesn't have the pitch and 'bounce', which gave kermit his personality. Plus he keeps saying "kermit the frog", it should be pronounced "Kermit de frog".

YoungBlackGenius personally Honestly Kermit doesn’t really even act the same as he used to. After Jim died they proved that another person could make Kermit sound and act very similar, why couldn’t they do that again? And I think people wouldn’t be so upset if he didn’t sound SO different. Filling Jim Henson's shoes will always be an impossible task, so I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing that Matt Vogel's take is a bit different. That said, I think he has Kermit's personality down perfect.

People think he sounds closer to Jim Henson than the last guy who played Kermit, but he doesn’t. Steve whitmire used to do kermit’s voice and he sounded like Jim (the original) but now we have Matt Vogel who makes Kermit sound like a boring, middle aged man boomer.

Tbh I’ve really warmed up to the Kermit voice and it sounds pretty natural to me now lol
