I had to do the same thing on a KD-65F which is pretty much the same, a new belt and it was good to go

If you have acetone, just clean the old belt. That's what I did. Learned it from some other youtuber named NorCal something or other. Apparently it cleans off the contaminants. Worked for me.

I'll keep that in mind. I do use rubber renew from time to time, but usually on idler tires.

Is it possible to replace the cartridge on those machines? I have a Kenwood P92 and I cannot find any needles for it anymore, so I thought about buying a new cartridge, but would that be even possible?

Should be a standard p-mount cartridge.

Did i miss the part where you moved the tonearm over to that "access gap" to remove the entire mechanism? I tried forcing it over there and it won't budge

I didn't record it, but since the tonearm was sort of moving, I probably used a combo of pressing the advance button and guiding it over with my hand.

I just downloaded the manual from electrotanya...it's not helpful at all...in other words, I have no idea.

I purchase belts from Amazon in bulk packs of 50 or 100. The packs contain various sizes.

Probably a bad RCA cable, but could be anything from a bad cartridge (or cart connection), tonearm wire, or muting circuit (if present).
