I’m a BYU alum and a big Mark Pope fan. I’m also a Nebraska football fan and I thought we had the best fans in sport (with 400 consecutive sellouts happening this year with the past decade being mostly a losing team). However, when it comes to basketball I can’t imagine a more passionate fanbase than Kentucky. I was impressed. Count me as a new Kentucky fan!

Such a big change from Swaggy Cal to humble Pope. That's what the true blue fans want to see.

The only challenge for the current crowd of UK sports pundits is they weren't really around for the 96,97,98 teams, and Pope brought that feeling back for the first time in ages. Those were my first 3 years at UK and the environment you saw yesterday was every single game during that stretch! It was electric, uniting, and dominant. I'm thrilled to see it coming back!!

The introduction/press conference was amazing. Pumped!

Pope is genuine. After years of BS, this was very refreshing

I think a lot of UK fans that stepped away from the game because of Calipari, will be back cheering on Coach Pope and his team this year. We finally hv a coach who’s only priority isn’t getting players to the NBA, we hv a coach now who wants to coach college basketball and hang banners in Rupp. He will build a team with players who hv the same vision as him-winning titles. Plus we’re finally gonna hv players who mk it to their jr and sr years, no use UK as a stepping stone to the pros. I’m more than ready for Coach Pope’s era. Let’s get back to UK basketball! I know a lot of people who were disaffected under Cal. For me personally, the Oakland game was my last straw. I had resolved not to watch the games next year, but then just a few weeks later, we got change!

I have to say unless you were there you don't understand the energy in that place. Something special was happening there, and looked alot like rupp did in the 90s, and if they have that type of energy at home games again? Yeah that would be the most electric atmosphere in the SEC, and I've been to almost all of them. Rupp was different today, in a special way, and if mark pope can succeed, then UK will be back to the most prestigious program in the country like it was in the 90s and from 2009-2015.

What's really nice is things like this will ONLY ever happen at Kentucky. I live in Eastern NC, was raised in South-Central Indiana, and have never seen this type of showing for any Press Conference. Not at Duke, not at UNC, not at IU, not at Purdue, but Only at Kentucky. The only time that I've ever seen anything close to this was when NASCAR showed up at Indy for Testing Practice back in 1992.

Coming from a Mormon and who’s had family and siblings play and attend BYU. Don’t judge him off BYU recruiting. Only top recruits BYU lands are Mormon players because all players have to sign an honor code contract. Basically they have to agree not to have sex before marriage, no coffee, no tea, no alcohol, no tobacco, an early curfew, no facial hair, no flip flops on campus, no sleeveless shirts, no girls allowed in their room at night, must attend church meetings, and etc. … yea you go convince non Mormon top recruits to agree to that. Some how guy was ranked nearly every year at BYU.
