Far out, there a so many “critics” in this comment section. Everyone needs to loosen the fuck up and enjoy the film. It’s a good 18 minute short film with some damn good production value behind it. I don’t think these people realise what it takes to get the resources to pull something like this off, and to such a high degree as this film has done. Stop complaining about the smallest things like the wrong type of glass bottle and Stevie wonder on the piano and just appreciate the effort that has gone into making something of this quality

This has all of the critical attributes to be a great film. The acting is great and the way the scenes are filmed, lighting, music of quality, costumes, you guys are destined to be great. What America really needs now is more Westerns where the bad guy loses, and the good and decent guy wins. If Hollywood would make more of these types of films, maybe the children watching will become more like the kids I grew up with in the 60s and not like the thugs and criminals of today.

I must confess that I did not finish this one. But the actor who portrays the cruel man we see from the very first shot of the film, pointing his pistol.. that actor is damn superb. Were I an established filmmaker in the market for a good Western, I would contract this actor on the strength of how the hell he knows how to wear a cowboy hat. The villainous malice coming off of him is absolutely palpable, like Eastwood in "Unforgiven." 5/5 stars to that actor. Ya'll did a fine job, though. Be proud.

Overall, I liked it. I'd give it a solid 3 out of 5 stars. The lowered hat brim and then slowly revealing the eyes trick that Clint Eastwood perfected was a bit overdone in this short I thought. I liked Red..thought he was spot on. The brother wasn't all that great. The kissing scene lacked passion. Loved when the whore took the money. That was awesome. Loved when Emily put a hole in Red's forehead. Now, let's critique the town a bit. First off, most Western towns were filled with folks that had lived hard lives. A great many of the men had come back from the war from both sides. They were used to carrying firearms and usually were at least somewhat proficient with them. When the outlaws went into the saloon the streets were full of people. When they came out to go into the bank, the streets were empty. My first thought was that the Sheriff was standing by with some men ready to ambush them when they came out. Where were the rest of the men when they came out? Where were the rest of the townspeople? Back then, men knew what damage a shotgun could do at close range and they wanted no part of it. Back then they used 10ga double barrel shotguns for the most part. All the Sheriff had to do was aim to the right side and pull the trigger and then swivel to the left a bit and pull a second time and every single outlaw would have been down crying out in pain for Mommy. Those are the primary reasons I'd give this only a 3 out of 5. One star for each of the things I liked. But hey, keep it up....it was good enough to know that you're on the right track as far as film-making can be.

Good story. I suggest not getting any shots of tree stumps of logs that look like they were cut with a chainsaw. Most felled trees were done with and axe back in the day. A two man crosscut saw is a little rougher looking.

It's missing a certain logic. No one is going to shoot someone with their buddy standing behind them(tension is defused). If there is a gun pulled, then it dropped to the side, then picked up again an pointed at the victim, there has to be a reason(doubt for instance; what would mother think of me). If you are going to execute someone; one bullet just didn't seem right, unless it is to the skull. Dramatic moment missed. If the shooter missed him on purpose, for a specific reason then more tension, more complex relationship and story, bigger payoff. The writing is on the nose, so the first page rings untrue... That said, appreciate the effort, very pretty pictures. Respectfully.

A few hints for you guys, when the camera looks down the barrel of a revolver make sure you can see the bullets, even if you use snap caps the effect looks real, and the lighting in the saloon, with that many windows it would never be that dark, can't even see the outlaws face, but the light is good in the windows. The bad guys hopping out of the bank after the hold up and the town sheriff just had to pull the trigger on that mules hear and not shoulder it. Needs work guys.
