Kent Western Drafter Saddle Review - Australian Half-breed

So, I've had this saddle for going on 5 years now, and do I think I made the right decision? You bet! This saddle is an excellent platform to safely and securely hone your riding skills and confidence.
What a pile of money I've wasted over the years buying various off-the-shelf saddles from India and local mass producers.
I have no doubt this saddle with will be used by my grandchildren and their children. It is a real family heirloom and has saved my butt on several occasions when riding out on the tracks around the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges (thanks to sanctimonious cyclists plowing along bush tracks at full speed dodging walkers and horses by inches.)
Sure, Kent products are twice as expensive as the stuff you'll get from Horseland or Saddleworld, but you'll only have to buy it once to realise it's well worth the extra cash. Buy the gear you 'want' to ride in, not the fake bargains you'll throw away in two years time and will be a cheaper investment in the long run.

How do the stirrups work, can make em shorter? Was originally looking at Half-Breeds but now I’m looking at Fenders

Their just like a normal western saddle, it has a blevins buckle, or a normal buckle, blevins buckle is like a safety belt you could say.

Actually any western saddle you can twist the stirrups on your own, blevins buckles or normal buckles, their are 2 or 3 ways, the broomstick is an old thing that only works a while because the leather will naturally go back to wanting to lay flat, the way blevins buckles are usually is that the pins show away from the horse and the fender goes underneath the stirrups bar, so you grind off the rivets and turn the blevins around and rivet it back, wet the leather and wrap it with string and then the pins will show to the horse and the leathers will hang on the outside, its a lot easier when you go watch a video on how to twist them, or you simply give the leather a twist or two in one direction and then buckle it again, just need to make sure that the ball on the inside of the buckle is on the right side otherwise the buckle won't click and lock like it should and come loose or lock and you won't be able to get it loose, but the leathers will be very twisted and sometimes it makes the fender sit weird and bulky. Also that saddle actually had the stirrups hang just about the same place as normal stock saddles, also the Australians modified the saddles to have the stirrups hang more forward is that your center of gravity shifts back so you sit deeper in the saddle when working with cattle, that's why you get different types of stock saddles for different types of work, or some people call them stockmen saddles or just Australian stock saddles, reining saddles stirrups are also hung more forward, polo crosse saddles, English saddles, and saddleseat saddles are hung extremely forward but are hung basically the same as stocks, western saddles put you more centrally balanced then rearward balanced , also it been a long disproven myth that if you push down on the stirrups you put more weight on their back, once you foot leaves the ground your weight is through the stirrup into the tree into the back, once you sit, if your relaxed and your stirrups are the right length, 75% of your weight should be on your ass and the other 25 on your feet about more or less but once yout sitting there where your ass is is where the weight is in the saddle, through the tree and distributed through out the tree throughout the back, if you lean forward, your feet will go a bit back and your weight is more onto the stirrups, but your weight is just balanced from one place to another, changing your balance as the person, its not going to put more pressure onto the withers and less on the back, same if you lean back, your just shifting your own balance back, only if your really gonna lean back like your gonna lie down on their back will you put more pressure on their back because your leaning far enough back to change where you, go sit ony the saddle put your hand under the skirt at the back close to the tree and lean real far back and real far forward, your hand ain't gonna get squeezed, its like pushing down on your stirrups is gonna put more weight on their back, your weight is on the saddle tree, no matter where you put it its still gonna be on the tree to the back, if you put lets say for example 80kg weight all into the stirrups by standing or more into your ass by riding stirrupless its still 80kg throughout the tree.

What kind of saddle pad do you need for an Australian saddle

Saddles don't determine what pad you use, your horse determines, some horses use a thin blanket and some horses use a very padded blanket and a thin one on top, get someone who knows how to fit a western saddle, they will know the fine details about fitting your saddle.
