    SPOILER! Adam here, pilot of yuriko for this video. I would like to give an explanation of a poor play on my part in this video. You were all probably confused when I used lim dul vault and only whet 3 times before using top to grab a mystical tutor to grab the miracle turn spell since I could have used vault to grab the miracle. What happened was simple, I didnt read the card right. It was my first time playing it and I didnt realize you rearrange the cards you look at, I thought you kept them in the same order they were in. Because of that I decided it would be the most cost effective to grab the miracle and guarantee it was on top so I could take an extra turn for 2 mana and leave the rest of my mana, plus mana drain mana, to cast my commander and stuff that I hit off of her ability. When I realized later how the card worked I felt a bit ashamed of my misplay. I hope the rest of the gameplay made up for the mistake however and I will work harder in the future to not make poor decisions like that again. I also was not as worried about looking for big spells to kill bill because without food chain I believed he wouldn't be able to win the following turn so I felt pretty comfortable shuffling and not knowing exactly what was on top.

    In my experience with playing Yuriko it is advantageous to mulligan aggressively down to five cards rather than keep a hand without a one drop, an island and a swamp to get the turn 2 trigger off Yuriko. With the London mulligan it is even less risky. I was curious why you decided to keep your hand?

  • @Sliver_Boi

    @Sliver_Boi

    4 жыл бұрын

    I think I was just nervous. In a lot of games I've played I've aggressively milluganed down to 4 and 5 and its turned out pretty bad, so sometimes I keep a safe 7. Especially with top i figured i could try to use that to find an earlier play. Havnt played yuriko a lot lately though so it might not be too bad to go down to a low hand size since her ability can refill your hand rather quickly

    Also at 14.29 you could have just ninjutsu Yuriko in instead of casting her. Would have saved you 4 mana to spend elsewhere that turn! (Since you could just replay Mothdust for a blue) Keep playing Yuriko mate, love seeing others piloting her! (:

    I love Korvold so much. I've built mine to be goblin tribal with a treasure sub-theme. So it's like a King dragon eating goblins and hoarding treasure. It's kind of become a combo deck cause of how easy it is to get a sac outlet, then go Murderous Redcap + Grumgully, the Generous. I'm trying to hold myself back from adding Food Chain + Squee, the Immortal and a TEMUR Sabertooth to the deck.

    Korvold is really growing on me. There are a lot of interesting lines you can play that are effective, and many of the pieces can be budget, depending on what lines you go (including some lines I haven't seen yet). His colors are colors not often seen in cEDH that I know of, and there are some fun and unexpected interactions that go along with that!

    Just an FYI: You can't do any actions after an opponent discards, there's no window for that. Before discard the priority passes and if nobody want's to do anything, the active player discards and the turn ends. I know this probably didn't change anything in the game, but that's an important step that should be respected. The active player has to acknowledge that he's going to discard due to hand size and say out loud that he/she's going to the discard phase.

  • @Sliver_Boi

    @Sliver_Boi

    I was very tempted to be greedy with the rift. I mainly held it due to the fact that 2 people had a carpet of flowers, which would have let them play their entire boards back out easily and Joseph had a cheap board state as well. Wouldn't have had as much impact as forcing them to think if they should play permanants into a possible rift.

    The main reason was to reduce the amount of artifacts for Dockside. Bill still have enough, but I just wanted to do what I could just in case

    Why is mindblade render in the gitrog deck?

    Mindblade Render is a budget option for Dark Confidant. It can semi-reliably get damage through (depending on the opponent's decks), is the same CMC as DC, and can be a decent blocker if there is a Tymna player swinging with mana dorks

    Food Chain doesn't count as a sacrifice does it? You wouldn't draw cards off of the Squee / Food Chain combo.

    You make infinite Mana with the food chain squee combo. You then cast squee from exile and then cast korvold sacing squee and drawing a card. Then exile korvold with food chain putting him to the command zone instead. Then recast squee from the graveyard and recast korvold repeating the cycle to draw your deck. :)
