Excellent video, great step-by-step explanations ... except for some little details, see below. My washer was pretty old (about 20 years), but they do not make them like the old Kenmore anymore, so I thought I'd repair it, baskets are pretty cheap. In my case, the basket hub had snapped from rusting. So my issue was that the spanner bolt was basically welded to the drive block and I had to cut it up in 4 (count 4) pieces with my trusty Dremel to finally disloge from the thead. I used a 1.5 inch cutting wheel, it took a few minutes, you have to cut deep (over 1/2") to make sure you get the flange at the bottom of the bolt (which is hard to see from the top). But I got the sucker out Remember, ALWAYS wear eye protection and gloves when using Dremel tools. The drive block + spanner bolt set is pretty cheap. I hope this can help someone with the same issue. Don't throw it away, these washers are built like tanks, just fix it. Also, while you are at it, grease the suspension springs and clean up the wash tub. My total cost was about $250, including all parts and the spanner tool which I didn't have.

This video helped me immensely - however - I did need to purchase the Spanner Tub Nut wrench as mine was on really really tight. Was able to pick one up locally for 16ish dollars. Otherwise, everything was perfect. Thank you RepairClinic!!!

I noticed that on the plastic washer and spacer that there appears to be lubricant/grease? Is this just due to it's location on the transmission shaft or should there be some applied to these parts? If so what kind and how much?

My Kenmore washer is a little older than that one. So it is not like the dryer? Should I NOT try and separate the top from the sides with a screwdriver and pry the entire metal lid from the sides like a dryer?

I would have cleaned the outer tub nastiness on the outer tub liner while I was in there. Lol

Mine is missing the plastic spacer entirely. And the collar on my inner tube looks mangled, like a fluted pie crust.

Hi, my washer doesn’t have the agitator as it’s an HE model. Do you know how to remove the retaining clip from the shaft? It’s a plastic piece holding down the shaft . Is there a video for this? Thanks in advance

For my Kenmore 70 Series washer (in video not 70 Series) parts manual it refers to what is being replaced here as the basket and the outer as the tub. Either Repair Clinic's terminology is incorrect or what ever model this is thats what its called. I watched this video because I want to remove my tub. This did not help as that I already have my "basket" removed.

Pretty good video - information-wise. But the "reassembly" instructions are definitely NOT showing a new tub. Come on, you're better than that.
