Grateful for this. Got our washer fixed in about 30 minutes. Saved on a new washer and brought the family out for a nice dinner. Thank you
So I replaced my suspension rods and after a few months the banging came back. I tried different methods to secure the tub, but the banging kept happening. After watching this video I see there are springs that can be put on the rods. I never had those on my kenmore machine I've looked to see if they broke off and nothing was there. I made my own suspension rod supports. I used some black tie down straps with the silver hooks that flatbed truckers use. What I did was put one on the back right side, I hooked it to the tub post then looped it twice around the rod ran it along side of the tub, and hooked to a opening on the machine in the front. On the left front side I did the same thing, but hooked it to a rear opening. The machine doesn't bang violently anymore, and it is more secure than it was before. I breathed new life in this 8 years old machine.
Thank you so much brother! Because of this video, we didn't have to call a repair man. Even my 11 year old son was able to give his daddy a hand! Saved money and momma is happy!
My wife and I had this problem. And decided to take your advice. We ordered the parts online and followed your step by step instructions..and now a brand new washer !!! Thank you so much for your help and your channel !!!
I Google searched my problem, your video came up. I ordered the parts and followed you directions. Works perfect ! All the information you gave was perfect. Just that easy. Thank you
The first 5 seconds of your video helped confirm what I thought was wrong with my washer. 5 seconds, love your no nonsense tutorial style!
This is the most accurate diagnosis and fix for the unbalance load issue with my Kenmore Elite Oasis High=Capacity washer. The issue has worsened over time to the point I would have to manually try to balance the load for the spin cycle to finish without banging the machine to death. A couple of issues I encountered though may help anyone else trying to replace the suspension rods on a heavier washer than yours. First of all, I contacted local Appliance Parts store to get the correct rod kit that matched the Model of my washer. It was not the generic part that they had on hand and had to be ordered. The removal requires more effort than shown for my machine. My son assisted by pulling up on the tub to allow me to pull the rods high enough to remove the old plastic seats. I did start with the front two rods. When installing the new rods, I learned to remove the rubber washer that was on each new rod. It is reinstalled from the top and slid down the rod to the bottom before attaching the rod at the top. I also had to remove the bottom seats and install the new seats that came with the new kit. The next effort was to pull the new rod up through the new seat and attach the top piece that hold the rod hook. The tub in this machine was heavy and the rod was nearly impossible to grasp by hand or water pumps but my son recommended using an old rod to hook the new one and with a vise grip I had the strength to pull it up high enough to attach it at the top. This worked with all 4 rods. For smaller washers it may be a one-man job but not for this model since 4 hands were needed for removing and attaching at the tops of the corners. Still this video is spot on and the good news is my washer is 14 years old and is running like a brand-new machine. BTW I replaced the upper and lower bearings on this machine about 3 years ago. The same store got the correct bearings and rented a bearing press kit that worked like a jewel. The rent was re-imbursed upon return of the kit! I found a youtube video on this procedure that was for my identical machine!
I wanted to thank you! I tried everything and as soon as I bought the new parts and put them in...just like new! I have very little skill in home repairs and you made it very easy.

your style and techniques teaching this is superb. This is coming from an inpatient ADHD home video viewer. and the video footage is on point. appreciate you 👏
I bought the new suspension rods & my washer working perfectly! I was able to change this by myself. I’m a 30yr old female. lol thank you for this video. I appreciate it.
A great video. When our washer started acting up the symptoms brought us to this site. After viewing the video we ordered the parts. It took us about 30-40 minutes to complete the job, and with these great instructions we had no issues. Machine working now. Thanks again!
“Y’all are smart. Just be careful.” This man has more faith in humanity than I’ll ever have... 😆
Kenmore Model 110. Thank you! Great video. Changing the front two and then the back two was perfect. I had someone hold the tub while I changed them. Unsolicited advice: if possible buy OEM and not the less expensive aftermarket
This is the best tutorial I’ve found online by far! Thank you for taking the time to explain in detail

Thank you so much for this video! It saved me a lot of money. The repair man here charges crazy prices. Anyways, I did it in 10 minutes, thanks to your video! Thank you again! These are the types of videos that make KZread a godsend!
Thank you for this info. Saved us from having to buy a new washer and the loud noise when the washer spins has stopped. Our machine is larger so it took two people to complete the process. Note: recalibrate after replacing extension rod. I purchased extension rods locally because I was told those ordered from Amazon do not last long.

Yes you need to get OEM rods. They cost more but they last a lot longer. Glad to help!
Your fix worked great. I just washed a large load of towels, no issues!! So happy. Thank you for showing us.
Seriously THANK YOU. If I hadn’t found your video I wouldn’t have figured out what’s wrong with my friends washer. And was able to fix it!
i figured a great way to pull the new rods up into place, use an old rod hooked end to reach in and hook it and pull it up then snap the keeper under the hook and release.

Update: This did fix my washer! Very easy and quick fix! Now I don't have to worry my washer will put a whole in my wall 😂 Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video!! I was able to fix my washer in about 20 minutes. You made it look very simple, and it truly was. I saved myself the expense of having to purchase a whole new machine. Thank you so much!!!!
Thank you so much, it worked like a charm. Bought a 48" adjustable bungee at Walmart for less than 3 bucks. Was going to replace the suspension rods, but this fixed it.
Hey thanks a bunch, looked all over to find disassembly instructions for this washer. This saved me a bundle.
My drum does not bounce but since it is 10pm I will lay it on its side and check grooves. I hope my 63 yr old, 115 pound self can get it to work tomorrow.
My husband & I were able to change ours out in 20 minutes & only spent $80 on the parts! Great video!

THANK YOU!!! Excellent tutorial. You saved me a ton of money. Works like new.
Thank you very much. We have struggled trying to get our washer balanced and everything we did would not work. I watched your video and ordered the parts on Amazon for $29. Put them on and our washer no longer dances.
Excellent video and walk-thru, thank you so much for your amazing work Mr. Bearded Appliance Repair.
Great video, and I changed them out easily. But it didn't solve the problem. Still shakes crazy and bounces around.

I like how you simply explain and show what to do, thank you
We used this video to work on our washer. The first load after worked like a charm, but on the second load, it started shaking again 😩😩😩

Maybe the pegs need adjusting. Use a leveler. Also balance your wash load. It could be something else.
Blessed for this video. Changed it myself and it works like a charm. Thank you....
Excellent, super helpful video. I have this same model washer and I've been debating whether to repair or replace. Now that I've seen this I know what the likely problem is and I should be able to fix it myself. Thanks!
awesome video. Thank you. the washer is still out of balance though. not sure why it is shaking... regardless, great instructions. keep it up.
Wow.... great video. I just ordered a set of rods and can't wait to get this thing fixed. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I replaced suspension rods and it seemed to work great for a few washes. Tried to do a large load of sheets and the same sounds returned. Do you have to reset the machine in any way once you do this? Also I noticed the machine I have has no "Counter Balance" Spring like others do and calls to check when this problem occurs. Is that normal? I have a Kenmore series 400. TYIA
Thank you helping me to fixed my machine thank you again
Thank you for the video. We replaced the suspension rods and worked fine for about a month or two. Then it started with the unbalanced issue again. What to do????

We're the new support rods you put in chosen from Amazon based on 5 Star ratings or where they actually the manufacturers part? I'm starting to believe my fellow technicians who say buy only the manufacturers part
By the way this video is a life saver!! Been battling my washer all day!
Thanks for the video. Easy replacement. Issue is, it is still vibrating and rattling!? As far as I can tell it is installed correctly. Any theories on why the knocking and rattling would continue to occur even after new suspension rod replacement?
Thanks, it worked. It is definitely less bouncy up and down after but not much difference side to side. It took me about an hour but only because it was my first time - if I ever do it again it will take less than 20 mins. The new parts from Amazon seem very slightly flimsier but I hope will be fine. My husband the laundry-nazi kept putting in too many towels at once which wore it out faster. I'm like: you might as well fill it with concrete. It's a Kenmore washer not an Abrams tank. Good thing he's cute.
Thanks, this helped me out a lot. No more rocking 😂
This is the exact Kenmore Washer I need fixed. (21202010) One peg side rusted and detached because of constant trap flooding in the basement. The beam in the front is detached on the left side which causes it to rock and I don't have welding tools. I'm going to drill some screws into the rusted side and adjust the peg while using a leveler to get it even. Thanks for the video. 👍
Very very helpful video!! Worked great on my Kenmore Model 110-20022012
Thank you for the tip on how to test possible faulty spring rods.
Woman here doing this myself… top of washer came off and can’t seem to get it lined back up to get back on. Can you show how to get it lined back up in the back to get top back on?
Thanks for the video ….need to replace the suspension rods on my washer.
thanks for the great info and wonderful video quality. great camera angles and very clear. my machine just started this ...small loads are fine but larger ones are getting loud... Is this the first thing to suspect with this balance issue, or is there something to try before this? thanks again, any reply would be appreciated greatly...i'm a bit apprehensive about opening this thing up...
Thank you for this video! My washer is now fixed 🙌

This is one I encounter a lot. What about a tub that still shakes but the suspension feels fine?
Got a repair like this tomorrow as of this comment. Just need the suspension rods.
I can't find the link he talks about..where to find the parts? Does anyone have that info?
Thank you so much! Worked great. No problems 👍👍

Thanks for the great video.
Thanks for the help! Easy install! I do have a question, so my washer still shakes slightly and makes noise, its hard to describe, still a rumbling noise. I heard that the drain pump can also cause some shaking and noise. How do i go about diagnosing a shaky drain pump? Thanks ahead of time!
Thank you very much you are/was a life saver. Well described and your instructions was great
Just by you bouncing the drum you answered my question lol.
Great, Informative, Clear Video, I would expect nothing less from a fellow Cowboy's Fan (ok, maybe that's the customer's hat?).
is the suspension kit universal to all kenmore washers or do I need to look for a specific one??
This was super helpful. I used the guide and the solution worked for about 3 weeks and then the new rods seem to have failed again. Any suggestions?
Loved your video.... my husband and I replaced the suspension rods in about 40 min. We tested a load and for the first 3 loads everything worked fine.... Then the washer started the crazy shaking and vibrating again..... please help
Very appreciated for the video.. keep up the good work
Thanks you for showing this quick fix... I have this same washer and another issue I have is that on the medium and large mode keeps filling water and do not stops. Would like to know how to fix that too

check the pressure hose. I have found those with cracks in them or even debris stuck in them. I would look at that first. If that looks good it may be a pressure switch issue.
Thank you so much. Saved us so much money!
Do you have to calibrate this one after you replace them?
I replaced the rods in my machine. The new ones pass the push down test. Not unlike pushing on a car bumper to test the shocks. But the machine still goes off balance and bangs/shakes violently unless I stop the machine after it drains the wash water and redistribute the load (I test balance by spinning the tub by hand as fast as I can). Is it possible the replacement rods are bad or some other part? The machine is about 10 years old.
I am having such a hard time getting the top off! I have now taken off 4 screws and the top will not budge. Even had husband try. It will not budge. Anyone with a recommendation? I really need to get this project done.
You just saved me 1000 dollars! =)
What if I changed the rods and it still shakes violently on rinse and spin

I highly recommend getting the rods and changing them. We paid $29 for the rods on Amazon this week and when we put them on yesterday our washer no longer dances while spinning. We were ready to buy a new washer and sacrifice buying some Christmas presents.

I have a top load Kenmore model #110.20022014 that I replaced the suspension rods using your video however it lasted for one load and I’m back to the tub banging against the insides of the washer again on spin cycle 😭 what else could be causing this issue? And do you have a video for it? 🙏

What about replacing the balancing ring
I replaced the suspension rods and it’s still off balance. What do I do?
My washer seemed fine one day and then the next it was out of balance. I checked for the up and down motion and it seemed ok. The top of the tub seems awfully loose (wobble) so my question is. Are there any springs, shock absorbers on the side of the tub to prevent lateral motion? Answer anyone before I call someone out to fix it? I am retired (73) and somewhat disabled. Thank you
Wonder if this is my shaking problem? Mines an older Series 70 Heavy Duty. What was wrong with your original rods?
Hi there great video … the tub ring is scraping the metal at the top of my washer. It also damaged the lid lock. The previous owner mentioned that he replaced the suspension rods . Could that be the problem?
I did it the same way in the video and it is shaking still .what should i do about the washer is it bad?
Sears repair wanted $377 to do this repair. Charged me $100 to tell me what was wrong. I did it in 20 minutes and paid $18 for the rod kit. I can buy the same new washer for $399 delivered. Pirates.
@BeardedApplianceRepair

I charge somewhere around $200 for this repair. I always install oem parts though and mark up the part.
This is a great video! I did this and it still bounces around pretty violently. Is there anything else that could be making this happen? Everything inside looks perfectly like yours 🤷🏽♂️
But if I change them, how will I know it’s time to add my fabric softener? Before my washer started to act a fool during the rinse cycle I would always miss the rinse cycle
Yer voice alone can calm the most pissed-off and frustrated amateur washer-repairman!(or woman!)
Changed the rods out and it still knocks but not bad. Could it be the friction plate? Or a sock in drain line?
i just love a southern accent
Fixed my issue. Thanks...

LG direct drive washer replacement suspension springs
I replaced the suspension rods in my Kenmore washer (it's the same model as the one in the video) and it worked fine for a couple months but now it's back to banging during the spin cycle. Is there any other issue that could be causing this problem?
What if it’s out of balance but the tub doesn’t bounce?
Dallas Cowboys fan
I have a model 110.20022011 I’m pretty sure it’s the same machine. Will the part in the link for the springs fit this model? Great video by the way!
Where I can purchase the top springs?
I have replaced the suspension rods and the tub ring. My washer still moves across the floor on the spin cycle. What else could be causing this on a Kenmore 110.20022012 top loading washer
Thanked
