Yeah tbh I think that makes them sound like horrible people. He should pan the camera to show their faces. It's one thing to come down and watch, but to cheer when people incur potentially income shattering damage to their vehicles is total scum bag behaviour.

The depth of that water is only just below level of the car door sill, so well below the engine and even lower below the air intake. so why on earth do people drive in at speed making a wave of water so high, it's going into the air intake? drive through slowly and disturb the water as little as possible.

it works in the sense that you dont create a bow wave that reaches the intake, but if the water is deep enough then it wont matter your technique.

Doesnt matter which way you are facing, if the water level reaches your air intake, you will flood your engine.

LMAO the Van driver had a right laugh at the Fiesta drivers expense and i think the law should be changed so that insurers do not pay these people for claims when it is their own faults.

@@MetalFan10101 Excessive speed is scuppering a lot of attempts in these videos that might otherwise have been "fine", creates a large wave that just rolls over the front of the car, water is higher, its more easily pushed into the engine bay and the air intake does the rest. Speed is also the reason for all the broken bits of trim and loose license plates in some of them.

speed is issue!! water is not 2 meter high then around 60cm and if car enter with slower speed without hitting waterwall it could pass as it be here and on other videos even in cars as Yaris,Corsa and similar while many much bigger vehicles are stoped because they enter too fast@@MetalFan10101

They tend to light up like a christmas tree about 3days later with numerous faults logged, source the countless people I have been out to in my line of work who tell me " I drove through a flood a couple of days ago but that wouldn't affect it would it ?"

Let me think, do I avoid driving through the water and add a few minutes on the diversion, or do I drive through the flood, destroy my car, have to get it towed back, ruin my day and probably the entire following week sorting out a new car, have to get to work on public transport, increase my insurance premiums...ok I'll drive through the flood.

Why do they let some poeople have licences??

Cold water onto a hot engine and brakes won't do much at all, it's nowhere near a fast enough process, or cold enough, to warp the brakes. It will just evaporate. No real harm done.

@@Jeanbond2990 well, I don't know what engine you were using but I would find it highly suspect that water at a typical ambient temp, even in northern climates, would be able to hit a hot engine and do much, if any, damage. For eg, a Land Rover or Land Cruiser with a snorkel could fully submerge a full temp engine and see no ill effects. I've seen hundreds of cars pass through deep water and as long as it doesn't get into the engine through the air box, seals etc, it does no damage at all. Just evaporates harmlessly. Electrics etc are another story however.

Johnathan, it’s intentional recklessness, not misfortune. No one is promoting this behaviour apart from the drivers, these videos are actually educating as well as entertaining people! There are plenty of warning signs at all of the fords featured on this channel, people choose to ignore them. If anyone stops to ask for help they are always given honest advice from bystanders, but the people who you see killing their cars are those who cannot be stopped. 99% of fords around the UK including this one do have some sort of depth gauge / warning sign! People featured in these videos have chosen to bypass the signs and verbal warnings (check out some other videos on this channel of people deliberately bypassing warning signs, that’s not misfortune). Even so, people who hold a full UK driving license should NOT need to rely on bystander’s generosity to decide whether to drive into a metre of water. There won’t always be someone there to help you unfortunately! However, bystanders do help people out of their own kindness. Doesn’t sound like it’s the bystanders who need criticising, rather the drivers!!

This isn't rufford where there is a 8 minute detour, some of them have no choice - you are just a terrible person who enjoys the misery of others. Even if I believe someone is stupid and their stupidity is the cause of their issue - i don't stand at the sideline laughing at them to feel better about myself.
