Kenenisa Bekele Lowers Men's Masters World Record At London Marathon, Still Hopes For Faster Times

Спорт

Kenenisa Bekele lowered his own men's masters marathon world record to 2:04:15 and the 2024 TCS London Marathon, which earned him second overall. However, Bekele says he hopes he still has even faster marathons ahead of him to come.

2:04 @ the age of 41? KB has never been human. Super human being. I wish him 100% health and to achieve what he truly believes he can achieve. This man was my hero in the year 2000, to think 24 years later he is still showing the young ones how its done is amazing, mind boggling. Without a shadow of a doubt THE BEST long distance athlete we have ever seen. Well done KB and 2nd in London in 202 4 is a massive result.

@@nichokituku4799 Bekele left NN last year, but I think if Bekele was the same age as Kipchoge, he might've been just as good over the marathon. Because he would've got access to better equipment and training at a younger age, and obviously every year counts in this sport. But then again, what could Kiptum have done if he wasn't taken so soon from us!

@shawnmand5607 He did have access to better equipment and training, dude was the best xc/track runner throughout the 2000s and was a few seconds shy of breaking the marathon wr in both 2016 and 2019. His peak in the marathon performance is already near kipchoge but kipchoge was been much more consistent.

And he clocked 2:01:41 which was amazing . Kipchoge at the age of 37 clocked 2:01:09. All I know is Bekele was way better in track than Kipchoge and Kipchoge is way better than Bekele in marathon.
