KEN DORSEY - Miami Hurricanes - ESPN SportsCentury (2001)

Музыка

Recently found an old VHS tape with the Ken Dorsey SportsCentury that ESPN ran in early January 2002 as the No. 1 Miami Hurricanes prepped to take on the No. 2 Nebraska Cornhuskers in the 2002 Rose Bowl national championship game.
(All footage here is owned by ESPN. Leaning on the Fair Use Act in order to share the content with fans of 'The U' who would appreciate the footage. I do zero on this channel to monetize any content.)

@@gsactotube How was he the weak link? Because he didn't have a great NFL career? They went to back to back Championship games with him as quarterback you clown. I guess you think that's easy. You do know you are watching a ESPN Sports Century on Ken Dorsey right jackass?

@@ericpackers1700 They were all so great in that era (2000-2002) but when you have Santana Moss, Reggie Wayne and a young freshman Andre Johnson at receiver AND first-year JUCO transfer Jeremy Shockey at tight end.... yeesh. D.J. Williams was also on offense playing fullback that year, with James Jackson, Clinton Portis and Najeh Davenport in the backfield. Just insane.

The BCS fronted on Ken Dorsey and the Miami Hurricanes in 2002 when they were robbed out of the BCS National Championship against the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Fiesta Bowl in 2003! That was and is still a travesty in College Football history! I'm still mad about that bull crap!

I remember this game my two boys were next to me in the living room and I was watching TV and watching FSU against Miami 22 23 years old laughing at Ken Dorsey sitting at that bench with his towel over his head and a home like shaking his head I was jumping and laughing and happy and then I seen his face and I realized that he was mad. And then he goes on to the field and he freaking engineers such a beautiful drive into the end zone I will never give Miami credit but I have to give him credit on that day not only did he engineer them to come back and win the game we had a chance to tie the game and we missed the field goal wide right I was Vivid I was mad I was exhausted from the two and a half hours of cheering and yelling and screaming and dancing and flipping the TV the bird that I had no energy to really dissect the beauty of that game fast forward to 2023 and now I can enjoy the beauty of that game it only took me to 45 years of age to see the beauty in football no matter who is playing. But that was the last winning season they ever had they suck and they're going to continue to suck while FSU continues to climb even with their number top five recruiting class we still going to beat that ass go FSU roll noles...-;-;-;->

Ken dorsey wasn’t athletic, big, fast and he didn’t have a strong arm but man he was the smartest QB I’ve seen play college football he has a great football mind. He now has a young bull who’s the biggest, strongest, fastest and has the strongest arm in the game. He he can teach him all he knows and lead him as a OC Josh Allen could be the best quarterback the NFL has ever seen. This is a huge moment for the Buffalo Bills.

Yup. Sharp kid. 38-2 should've been 39-1-robbed in Fiasco Bowl by refs. Also robbed by Heisman committee as there's no f**king way Nebraska's Eric Crouch should've won the award over him in 2001-while he and Willis McGahee canceled each other out in 2002, paving the way for Carson Palmer to take it.

Brian dabol was a great offensive coordinator for Buffalo but sometimes i questioned his play calling with Josh allen at times. I felt he held him back from making the big play downfield and optioned to handoff the ball instead. Josh allen went out of his way to say he wanted ken dorsey as the new offensive coordinator i feel just like in the 1990s with jim kelly they allowed him to run the k-gun offensive i feel they are going to allow josh allen to do the same this season. That is why Buffalo boosted up offensive line help signing Roger saffold probowl tackle they arw going to go balls to the wall this season

Yup. Just like the 1991 to 1992 season, Miami lost a lot of offensive line beef from 2001 to 2002 and it hurt in that title game against Ohio State (just like it did against Alabama in the 1993 Sugar Bowl). McKinnie, Gonzalez and Bibla were all gone after the 2001 season and the unit took a little step back. All that to say, 24-17 after the first overtime and the game was over before that bullshit pass interference call. Terry Porter can still eat a bag of dicks for that late, egregious flag on Glenn Sharpe.

Eh, disagree. Mediocre arm, maybe-but the way he saw the field, found open receivers, etc.-he had a great feel for the game and was a fantastic decision-maker. Arm wasn't NFL ready but he was a very solid college quarterback and should've won the 2001 Heisman over Eric Crouch.

  • @jhaz89

He was a really good college QB. You don't need to have a super strong arm to be a really good QB. Accuracy and decision making is ultimately more important
