Kelpie Comic Animatic - AMV Young Heretics
When I first saw this comic, this song IMMEDIATELY came to mind. It's about an old man who remembers his past encounter with a mythical water horse called a kelpie.

Little known secret to spotting a REAL Kelpie: you have to watch VERY CAREFULLY how they wade through the marshes and swamps. They are very good copy cats to horses except for one thing Kelpies dont leave horse tracks wherever they go.
Imagine a movie based on this frame-story :O
He kinda transformed his trauma into art. It makes you wonder if he really hates the creature, or just feels confused and amazed. I love kelpies, and this story art tells us their story and nature pretty well. 10/10.
I have no idea if I wanna cry or not. This was so disturbing (I hate water and especially being underwater) but also so awesome. The creator did an amazing job on this.
I'm Irish and when I was young, I would often walk through wetlands with my friend. I still remember my mum telling me not to go there and saying that the kelpie would take us. Now I realize she just wanted me to be safe around water, but I remember that sometimes when I'm around lakes and rivers to this day.
Tbh I find this more heartbreaking than scary, the poor guy lost his friend, they were just young boys exploring and stumbles upon what they assumed was a wild majestic horse only for it to turn out to be a horrific monster when they tried to pet it, it's sad that two friends simply spending time together turned into a nightmare from a monster horse that was gonna drown them and eat them and only one of them made it out alive while the other drowned and was most likely eaten afterwards, it seems to have traumatized the man so much that all he could do was think of that horrific day and the monster that killed his friend and almost him.
folktales are dark man. Thankfully I heard about the kelpie and what it does from a video I had watched, so I wasn't horrified by this.... much..... The moral of the story of a kelpie was to keep other people from touching a horse that was not their own, most likely to defuse any thoughts of steel someone's horse back in the day. I think the horror folktales we see from back in the day, were used as that time to keep a lesser amount of people doing stupid stuff. To us now a days though, I might be more of a horror story we like to believe is true
this is my favorite kelpie animation ever. it's got so much emotion, terror, and rawness to it.
Her work is very inspiring, and this is just a master piece and true the song does go with this comic.
I know I’m 7 years late but I love the detail that in the flashback there is only one kelpie but after his friend dies a second kelpie appears
This made me so uncomfortable-
So beautifully creepy! But I'm kinda curious now, after seeing the surviving boy making sculptures of tangled wood...what if that's all the kelpie ever was? Just a tangle of sunken roots and water-weed that they got dragged into by a current while swimming, with one boy drowning and the other bearing survivor's guilt for the rest of his days.
I remember first learning about kelpies and thinking “thank god we don’t have mythological creatures like that here.” Only to then learn that the things we have over here are equally as terrifying, if not more. Though these legends serve a purpose more than to scare us. The legend of the kelpie tells us to be safe around water. The folklore where I live tells us the dangers of winter and the dangers of traveling alone.
Years later that dude will comeback to that place, having white hair, bright yellow eyes, carrying two swords and ready to take revenge.
Hehehe perfect video to watch just before going to bed. Totally not getting creepy vibes
Excellent my friend, like for you and keep it up :)
The Kelpie isint real but it is sort of scary but cool at the same time.
This is the disturbing kind of beautiful video that I can't forget and even now, years later, still come back to watch
This is so disturbingly good. And the song captures the vibe very well. Great job to the artist, and to the author of the comic. So amazing!
