Personally, I think once you become a parent, at least for the first ten years or so, the highest priority should be your family. At least One of the parents should focus on the kids, and the other should focus on income. It makes it easier. A lot less juggling for one person to do...being a parent means making sacrifices. Being a husband or wife means making sacrifices. You CAN’T have it all at once.

The rules are clear and finite for Christian married couples. First, God, then each other, then the kids and yourself. After God, married couples need to put importance in their marriage to ensure a happy relationship and a happy home for the children. That means making spending time together alone a priority on a regular basis. It means not letting the kids come between you and maintaining a healthy partnership in raising the kids and taking care of the home. When parents start putting more focus on their children and neglecting their partnerships, divorce is inevitable. The only time your children should come before your partnership is if the other partner becomes toxic or dangerous, then the priorities have to change.
