Kelela did an interview where she mentioned she wanted to showcase and connect the many Black diaspora producers/djs who been contributing to the many different facets of "techno/electronic/club/dance" music as a whole, all within their own regional underground subcultures/scenes. For those who don't know, Techno/Electronic music originated from Black folks (specifically from Black Americans), as well as all the other types of music that is popular throughout the world rap/hiphop/rock/jazz/country/house etc. Thanks to her collaborations on the remix project, I would have never heard about the Chicago Footwork/juke music scene, as well as the two fantastic Chicago based, Footwork producers/djs she worked with, Sucia! (Bruises) and DJ Manny (Divorce). As Kelela has said, "MAKE TECHNO MUSIC BLACK AGAIN!" IYKYK!

they really grew on me. for example, i really disliked the sucia remix at first but then i just decided that i have to rage when it switches up.
