He sounds pretty good to me. I think it’s unfair to expect him to sound exactly like his father. Some of these comments, it says that people think he should sound exactly like his dad. Just enjoy his voice, and the beautiful tribute to his dad. Keith Whitley had a unique voice. But his sons voice, no obviously not the same, is still wonderful to listen to. I’d much rather listen to this than 90% of the country songs released in the last 10 years or so.

I hear his dad in this song especially when he goes to a lower register, he also has a great voice of his own, did Keith and Lorie have kids? I keep thinking yes but can’t swear to it! It would not have been possible for this young man NOT to be able to sing. In my opinion, his Father and Mother were second to none in country music.

It’s sad to think that he was only a year old when his father died… no child should not be able to know their father, and no father should not be able to witness their child grow… Rest easy Keith, and what a wonderful performance and tribute to your father.

Simply- Such a different performance of you than the one I saw years ago. I have played it over several times. You’re coming into your own with your dad’s songs. Keep it up and stay on the straight and narrow. PLEASE! Your dad was a favorite of mine and now you are getting there too!

i sat beside your dad's last CMA awards show he attended. I was a seat filler so on camera it never looked like a empty seat. He spoke and treated me like i was just another person the BEST treatment from an artist I ever recieved. And i sat by Vince Gill, The JUdds, Charlie Pride and many many more and HE was the nicest MAN i have ever met.

Truth be told, no one will ever sing it like Keith. There will never be another Keith Whitley. Mold was broke. I will say though, Jesse Keith just did a pretty darn good version. His version. Keep it up Jesse Keith!

Jessie, I have watched you grow from not much more than a toddler climbing onto the back of your Uncle Dwight’s Bike, to the amazing man, and talented artist you are today! Keith would have been so proud of you, as we all are, and I have no doubt he is looking down from Heaven with that big ole smile on his face we all loved so much!! ❤️God bless.

It sounded like Keith himself was singing along with him. How Jesse managed to keep composure and sound so good while doing his dad's song is astounding and masterful. Not an easy feat, especially knowing there had to have been a lot of emotion and no small amount of "here's to you, Dad." All in all, I think Keith's legacy is alive and very well in the hands of his son. Well done and God's blessings, Jesse!
