In Canada we don’t use block heaters to prevent freezing. That would guarantee a cracked block if the power went out or a breaker tripped (pretty common when using a block heater). It’s all about being able to start the engine and minimizing damage when it does. This was much more important pre synthetic oil and fuel injection. Battery warmers are also common .

You got a great car. 0:55 The four-leaf mark on the rear window is displayed on the car by drivers over 70 years old. 22:30 Alternator warranty Purchased on May 6, 2016 The inspection documents are from Gifu Prefecture, but the address of the alternator's warranty is Osaka. Not Mazda or Mitsubishi I think it is a rebuilt product. 22:40 On October 31, 2013, it was newly registered when the mileage was 14023km. 新規 at the top of the document indicates newly registered. The License plate registration may have expired for a while. It was not used continuously from new cars. 34:46 December 8, 2019 has not yet arrived. H31 / 12/8 means December 8, 2019 and Heisei until April 30 Reiwa began on May 1 because the new emperor took the throne. Since it is a very interesting sticker in Japanese, I think it would be good to add a little and modify 31 to R1 Anyway, it ’s a cool car.

Funny, that "Remove the filler plug before the drain plug" thing I was taught in grade 11 mechanics class in high school by my teacher Mr. Fraser, a very old school cool teacher who had a VERY nice T-bucket 1/4 mile car. That little truck is in amazing condition, well done keeping it mostly stock! I've got a 2008 rear engine Subaru Dia Kei Van, I just love that little truck, when the engine eventually wears out, I'll get it rebuilt and breathed on a bit. BTW we use the Gregorian calendar here in Japan, have so since the Meiji period in 1873, that said we use the nengō calendar (Years of Emperor reign) as well, kind of bilingual. I'm sure you have lots of contacts in the biz in Japan, but I'm in Tokyo and would help if needed. Cheers!

Hey Benny, it’s about time you did a Keitora! :). I have a 1992 Subaru Sambar with the Supercharged 660cc 4 cylinder engine here in the US. A few notes, 10” wheels are not a requirement for Kei cars or trucks, most of the newer models have 12” and 13” wheels, and there were some in the 550cc days with 12s as well. Also, 4x100 was more common in the 660cc era as well. The Sambar and Honda Acty both use that PCD, and I am sure there are more.

Benny, Very well presented and edited film making there. I am not at all into Japanese vehicles, but your articulate and clear style made this quite interesting to watch (much easier to watch than those bankie yobbo's on mcm :). I quite like your Edd China stylee top tips. I only found your channel today and I am pleased that I did - 1 new subscriber here. Its good to see that some people are still using the 'barter' system - seems a good swap of your time doing an engine change for those wheels. Also impressive is the cleanliness and well organised state of your workshop. BTW, your not old yet mate - my knees are much worse than that and you haven't got any grey in your beard yet! Interesting that historic plates still have rego stickers - I miss having a rego sticker as I always forget when my rego is due. Keep up the good work - can't wait to see how things go in this years drag week. Oh - one (slightly rhetorical) question - what if your timing belt is on the 'side' on the engine? - i.e. runs from front to back on the car - what way should the writing point then? Potsie.
