That's an excellent tip on keeping the eye debris away from the eyeballs. Once you do it a few times they become a lot more relaxed, and sometimes they start to look forward to having it cleaned because it can be a bit of a nuisance.

I have one and he is the sweetest most kind little guy ever. As far as their eyes, I have a water filter. He's never had any other water and he's also never had tear stained eyes. His groomer can't believe it. It's the minerals in tap water that makes the stains.

I had a Maltese, his name was Felix, may he rest in peace. He was my buddy for 14 and a half years, I was with him every day of his life with the exception of two weeks that I had to go, on a cruise, and my brother may he rest in peace, Felix for the two weeks, that I was away. Other than that he would be with me 24/7. When Felix died in 2012, I cried more for him than my own twin brother when he passed away. I have a new Maltese currently his name is Oscar, he's not as intelligent, but I love him just the same. Oscar will be 10 years old, next Thursday. Man's best friend, a true statement was never said. Today is January 14th 2023

i got mixed maltese and shih tzu i do the separate the tangled hair and then combing, but mine is so impatient always..but she was very sweet..

We use the human eye wash solution. If you look at the ingredients on the box it will indicate if it has boric acid in it. ☺️

Hi, we've used Bausch + Lomb Renu advanced formula multi-purpose solution (www.bausch.com/our-products/contact-lens-care/soft-lens-multi-purpose-solutions/renu-advanced-formula ) and we've also used Costco's multi purpose solution. What you're looking for on the ingredients list is Boric Acid. This is the active ingredient that helps the stains/bacteria. :)

Hello, can you give me the name of the boric acid product you use? I'm in France, should I buy it in a pharmacy? Is it a mixture or pure? Is there a risk for the eyes? Thank you very much.

I use a multi-purpose contact lens solution that contains boric acid. I have been using the Costco branded ‘Kirkland’, OPTI-FREE, or Walmart branded ‘equate’. The solution is very gentle. We use it to wipe the hair around the eyes. However, this doesn’t remove the stains 😊 It’s just to maintain the white hair and ensure no tear stains remain, causing discoloration.

I have had 3 Maltese that had tear stains when I got them. The best way to get rid of tear stains is to give them filtered water only to drink. We use the water filtered through the refrigerator and with in 2 weeks you won't have stains.
