I agree. The Keen masks are by far my favorite masks. I've worn it ice skating at an outdoor rink a couple of times too and really liked it. However, my glasses do still fog. I got mine for $15 for 2 masks at Mariano's (owned by Kroger) here in Chicago

Thanks. I figure between my daughter and I we'll both need a bunch of masks for work and school so why not experiment with different brands.

Woah! They have these at my Kroger’s, two for $14. I’m glad to hear they’re good, I’ll be purchasing tomorrow. :)

If you return to classroom teaching with a facemask protocol? You may be making a video about portable clip on microphones for voice amplification. I have a radio shack model from 30 years ago that was inexpensive , portable and easy to add to a sound system via stereo male/female connectors. There is a mask being made with a clear plastic panel to allow those that are hard of hearing to read lips. That may be useful too.

The inability for kids to hear the teacher's voice, regardless of volume, just because they can't see the teachers lips is going to be incredible. I'm actually considering pre-recording any and all directions so that I can show myself big up on the screen when my lips actually moving. I'm thinking that would be more effective than just my head mic'd!

@@PaultheBackpacker When I take a class that requires extensive note taking from material that the instructor is writing on a whiteboard. Mathematics for example, I chose the side of my classroom to sit on based on if the instructor is right or left handed. My last mathematics instructor had my plan beat. She was right handed. She had taught herself to write on the whiteboard facing the class. Thus her speaking information was not directed at the whiteboard and her body placement allowed me to follow the equation as it was being written down. I was rather impressed and let her know my appreciation for her teaching skills efforts.

So one of my niches in the education world is speaking on non-verbal communication. Wrapped up in that is seating arrangement. Short story...many many people have a brain preference for sitting on the right side of the room vs the left. So if you are sitting on your "wrong side of the room" and on the side that makes it hard to see/hear as a prof writes...well you got double trouble. Ok, I am enjoying the wifi at my mom's house now. Time to go back to my jungle home with no predicted availability of electricity in the near future. Good news is the town has at least set up a water station :)

@@PaultheBackpacker Thank goodness you are experienced in OTG living. Now your wife and children may not like going stoveless and without the usual accouterments of "Civilized Living" Lol . Hope you have a generator for a few essentials. Give the aquarium some love.

I haven't tried the keen yet, I did try the others you mentioned and one other which I think is 100% better than any other is the Mystery Ranch street mask.

Hope the cold soaking is going well :) I purchased the street mask. My daughter went away to school and took one of my Keens and Outdoor research mask so I need another one. Your recommendation had perfect timing. I have always wanted to try one of their packs too. They remind me of my McHale backpack. Seem to be built to last, and a bit heavier but really comfortable. Plan on doing the KZread dive into some reviews tonight. Maybe a good black Friday purchase.

the OR mask has MUCH better protection, given it's virucidal fabric and N95 level filters. the OR will also seal up better with the metal band at the nose. this mask is fine, but as an actual protective device the OR wins hands down.

@@PaultheBackpacker fortunately the OR masks should essentially be self sanitizing due to the silver infused fabric so i dont need to wash it too frequently. but yeah, it's absolutely insane that we're doing this, especially when cases are already starting to spike here. we do not have the hospital capacity to handle even a small surge.

But the best reason for getting it is its treated with EIQ V-BLOCK® NPJ03. Which is a silver compound that helps kill virus on the mask. Its not instant, but after ~30mins 99% of the virus is killed. If you are traveling it can be hard to clean and wash masks. And so while its not perfect, with 2 masks you can alternate days and be safer then having a mask you didnt wash.

It looks and feels like aquarium tubing. So it is a rubbery sorta small piece of clear tubing. Works perfect for me.

I would like to pin a comment with an opposing point of view on this mask. My wife just picked up this mask and tried it on and I quote...."I don't like it. It's heavy like a winter mask, and scratchy like wool. The ear straps bug me and my glasses are fogging. Do you like it?" That's when I had to answer that I had just posted a video saying it was my favorite. Her favorite is the HMG mask that out of the three I tested, would be my least favorite! So the moral of the story is please take my opinion with a grain of salt :)

Just like shoes: some brands just WON'T work for some people. Narrow faces need narrower masks, longer faces need longer masks...

Unfortunately, my impressions of this mask are not positive. Though they appear to be well made and reasonably comfortable on the face, the thicker canvas-like material of these masks has virtually zero breathability. In my experience, once a satisfactory seal is achieved with this mask, it can feel quite suffocating with any significant amount of mouth or nose breathing.
