Thanks for the heads up! I missed the email. If being able to get author copies without the bar is an option, I could effectively hold a 'preorder' for my print copy by ordering them well before the date. That way I could sign them, and mail them out on the release date. Woot! That would be an amazing feature until they actually do print copy preorders!!

It wasn't the whole enchilada, but certainly a nice little appetizer. Being able to set the publish date is going to be a very nice change and, given the wording in the email (plus the simple fact that tons of people keep asking for it), I'm sure KDP will be rolling out preorders at some point in the future. Hopefully not too far out. 🤞🏻

I was very happy when I realized this was added the other day. I'm about to release my first book and this helped me a lot. I've also already order author's copies. Due to my times, I will receive them when the book releases, but at least I'll have them. I did order a proof copy, but there was some error with the order and it just never came home. I will have to ask for the money back on that. A pity, but this is much better.

I am glad they chose to do it this way. As a (former) software developer, I know how much can go wrong with launching a new feature like this. By launching it as only "set your date" they can iron out any kinks before those reflect on us authors through Preorder issues. A tiny bit bummed this came out just one week too late for me to use it for my own book launch. The feature showed up in my dashboard just days before the launch, so it was too close to October 1st for me to leverage it. But it will definately be an awesome feature next time. Maybe by then they will have worked out any kinks and added pre-orders.

Somehow, my book is on Amazon for Pre-Order (and I have no idea how). I have registered the ISBN with Neilsen and I am currently drafting my KDP listing (not published yet, just saved as draft). Somehow, it's pulled the information through to Amazon and you can pre-order it? I have no idea how or why when I have not scheduled the publication on KDP yet... So apparently pre-order is available but I can't tell you how or why???

Did I miss something, because it doesn't seem to even show the print book as coming soon on the page, only the Kindle option. As far as I can tell, the print book page doesn't go live until the print book release date. Am I wrong on this? From the site: "Your title's release has been scheduled. Your title’s Amazon detail page will remain hidden until 12:00 AM GMT on the book's scheduled release date."

After I schedule my release date, will my book cover and description be seen for the 30 days before release to help promote it?
