KC-135 Stratotankers being phased out at Riverside County Air Force base
Refueling planes known as KC-135 Stratotankers are being phased out at the March Air Reserve Base in Riverside County.
The KC-135 Stratotankers are a legacy aircraft that allows the refueling of other aircraft in the sky. The fleet is now considered a bit antiquated and may be replaced by the newer KC-46.
KC-46 aircraft have more cargo capability, can carry patients for aeromedical evacuation and is more fuel efficient compared to the KC-135. But the main appeal is that it’s a newer aircraft with more technological advancements.

Sure its old, but the KC-135 is a classic aircraft. Beautiful and historic. I hope they survive into the future.

I was aboard one years ago at the airshow here. The cargo door was open and we all got to step aboard and have a look around. Got to sit in the pilot's seat and everything. LONG before 9/11, of course.
Oldest KC 135R at March was built in 1957.
It's time - tech is always bound to improve 🇺🇸 but thankful for the workhorse that put in the time!

Nah, a 135 will still outpreform a 46
Nice seeing the bird I fly, the KC-10, being plugged!
I miss the old days when people didn't pronounce the word 'important', as impor-enh.
On offense Major, but why were they interviewing a CE guy about the birds? Aircraft MX officer or SNCO should have been interviewed.
I wonder about how often they get shot down
If she had ever flown a new aircraft she would not have said "new car smell." I always found new aircraft to smell like burnt rubber.
I don't understand the review. The KC-135 is louder, use more fuel, less environmentally friendly, more costly to maintain. Why do they need a year to review?
" legacy aircraft ". Nice way to describe this obsolete antique.
They need to take care of homeless before buying useless things
