One of the things I've noticed most reviewers forget (and I do think they've forgotten) to say is you want the tempature to be 70F or above to set up your TuckTec. I also have scraped my hands and elbows on the sharper edges. As for customer service, it's not as good as he states. I had to go back and forth about an issue I had with mine and it took over a month to resolve. It WAS resolved and I was happy with the resolution but it took too long IMO. I'm guessing that, even without a lot of subscribers, TuckTec was quick to resolve his issues because he has a KZread channel and they were conserned about bad press. That being said, the kayak is a great value for those who don't have the ability to just throw their kayak on top of their vehicle (yes I mean putting it on a roof rack..lol). The plastic used is tough and the draft is very shallow. I've been able to shimmy over thick and heavy grass mats with little trouble.

We may have lucked out with our customer support experience then. They were very quick to respond. We actually purchased this Tucktec straight from their website and made no mention of doing a review for KZread, both at time purchase or submitting our support request Really appreciate the feedback!!! When we do a comparison to the oru folding kayak we will be sure to mention these!

Thank you for bringing up the temp issue, I am in Canada despite loving my tucktec, I have a shorter season because of it and even on warm days I can't use it in the mornings or evenings during the summer. Its the only con for me, so I wish it wasn't so.
You chose a very good colour. Your kayaking outfit beats anything I have ever seen on the water.

Glad we could be informative!
This will never replace my Dagger Cypress for most of my paddling. But being able to stow it in the back of my Subaru Outback and barely take up any cargo space was great on a long trip where I wasn't sure if I'd get the chance to paddle. I did get to paddle and was very glad I had the Tuktec with me. The other selling point for me was how inexpensive it was compared to the other folding kayaks out there! I got mine on a good sale, 287.72 including taxes and shipping.

We threw 2 of these in the back of a ford explorer along with the oru lake folding kayak and drove from south Florida all the way to Montana with room to spare!
Mine is the model from July 2022. LOVE IT. Made a gear box for fishing. It has been AWESOME.

Mine had a mis-aligned interior latch. Tucktek had a new kayak on the way in a couple days. Have not had it out on the water yet as I recover from a back injury, can'[t way to try it out.

Can you still fold it even with the chair and the arm rests not inside the kayak and stored somewhere else?
@Bass_city

Yes! The chair just folds up inside but you don’t need to keep it there.

I just received my Tucktec and having great difficulty cleating the latches. The plastic is very stiff.

Yes this was a major issue with ours as well. With more use it will eventually become easier however it is rough in the beginning.

I had to ask a young neighbor to help with the latches. I am going to keep it assembled for a week and try again. If I can’t manage the latches by myself, then I will have to return the kayak.
@Bass_city

@@malin5468 yes I would say leaving it in the kayak form for a while should help a lot. Ours has become much easier to assemble the longer we have had it.

1:46 maybe im just like a super enginerring genius or something but i got mine in the mail yesterday and literally the second time i put it together it took me just under 5 minutes from completely folded and strapped up. i did also get a refurbished one to save a few bucks so maybe the folds were already broken in a bit
@Bass_city
Ай бұрын
Yes, I’d have to admit the 5-10 minute estimate was exaggerated slightly. I’d definitely say having the folds broken in was probably a big help tho!
@danmonges1539
Ай бұрын
Agreed. Mine was new. I watched the how-to video and it took me maybe 10 minutes my first time and half that on subsequent assemblies.
@Bass_city

@@danmonges1539 definitely agree, 5ish minutes is a better estimate for the amount of time it takes to put together.

This is wonderful
My biggest worry is if one of those latches fails. Cause the plastic of this kind of nature will eventually tear from the constant latch-on/latch-off action.
@olephart9556
Ай бұрын
The Latches WILL NOT Fail. they are Riveted into the Plastic, and have Clevis hooks to keep them latched.
20 minutes?? Even 5-10 minutes is extremely long for this kayak. With practice, you should have it ready in about 2 minutes. My first one had a pinhole in one of the seams due to shipping and they sent me a new one, no questions asked. They let me keep the original. A little shoegoo and now I have 2 awesome kayaks!
@Bass_city
3 ай бұрын
Haha yes 20mins might be a slight exaggeration. We will be doing a proper setup time comparison in our next video to clarify this. I believe with practice the 2-6 min range is reasonable.
I feel like no kayaks are comfortable for long periods 😂 foldable or not

A few of the kayaks that’s are purpose built for fishing are actually pretty comfortable. But I agree that most kayaks are not comfortable for long periods of time 😂
I AM IN MY GREEN FUN MACHINE EVERY SUNDAY, WEATHER IT IS 49 DEGREES OR 90 DEGREES. looks great but do not expect a long lifespan. plastics do not like being folded. i would buy an inflatable way before that. or maybe if i need sheet plastic for some project.

So far it’s done decently well. Other than the first kayak that was replaced we’ve not had any further problems. I can only speak on our experience but for the year and half of ownership and the many times it’s been folded and unfolded it’s done great. Now I’m not sure how it will hold up in 5 years but only time will tell.
@merendell

I seem to recall in the marketing they tested it to several hundred fold/unfold cycles without it failing. Most of the inflatables I've had didnt last anywhere near that many uses. Sure its easier to patch an inflatable but they punture easy.

The website says it's good for 1000s of folds. I'll be dead long before I use it that many times! LOL

@@danmonges1539 yes 1000 folds is way more than anyone would realistically use this for.
The seats are terrible to install. You say it is a great kayak but the first one you got had a hole in it. The one thing I don't want in a kayak is a hole. Sounds like a deal breaker to me.
@Bass_city
4 ай бұрын
Well yes, it did have a hole. However once we received a new kayak we did not experience this issue and the customer service fixed the problem right away. It definitely was not confidence inspiring when the hole was discovered and if that makes you nervous i would maybe get a different kayak
Looks like a bag of shit I’d just buy a proper one

It looks like a folding kayak and being among the cheapest of all the folding kayaks I would say it's priced like a folding kayak. ...and despite all that, contrary to your Negative Nancy attitude about its cosmetic details, it seems to have served him well as a functional kayak.
