Great Solution! Here on Long Island.. for some unknow reason folks here like to Dissemble their garage and make another Room out of it.. Good to see you using the Garage for it's purpose.

Excellent idea! My father has the kayak on the roof tied with 3 pulleys and the rope but they don't go up as well as yours.

That's a good idea.

I'm trying to use a smaller version of this (rated at 60lbs) to stow our two Wilderness Pungo boats. So far it's not looking good. For starters our local Home Depot doesn't carry 2x6 pine boards for some reason. I'm trying to use 1x6 boards instead, which have a tendancy to split. Then, they didn't provide washers and you have to get slightly oversize washers because of the wider barrel on the bolts. And on and on. Also, the instructions aren't the easiest to follow. Lastly, our garage rafters are also 24" so I couldn't straddle 4 as the instructions call for. Where does one find these more narrow rafters?

And I use my garage for my 2 cars as well, so I'm in the middle of mounting kayak on the ceiling too.
