KAYAK CAMPING gear - What I take on the Hobie Lynx

I kayak out of a Hobie Lynx and when i go on a Kayak camping trip unlike most kayaks that have lots of storage options either in the hull on on deck the Hobie Lynx is different. In this video I will show you how I transport all my gear specifically when I am on a Kayak camping style trip.
Although the Lynx is a lightweight kayak and more like a SUP than a kayak it is still a real workhorse. Check out my Kangaroo Valley kayak and Camp trip to see what I mean.

This video shares the type of gear I take on a trip. The gear has to be compact but also good enough to make for a comfortable and safe trip.
I recently uncovered at home a huge pelican case that I used for my Underwater Camera housing and on my next trip I will use it to carry the majority of my gear. A big benefit is that the Pelican case is waterproof and weatherproof and built like a tank, so it will keep all my gear dry and secure. At the camping spot I just unclip it and carry up to set up my camping area.
On a previous trip I just used a Tub which did the job but was not waterproof. See it in the video.
My next video will show all of this gear in action on the trip.
Basic gear for two people:
2 person tent and poles and pegs
2 sleeping bags
2 sleeping mats
2 pillows
cooking gear - Jetboil and ceramic pot
Also took Colman Fold and go plus Frying pan
Cutlery
Plates, bowls
2 Camp chairs
1 folding table
3 x 3 tarp
First aid kit
Knife
Wood saw
Hammer
Lighter
Torch
Toilet paper
Water x 12 ltr
Clothes and wet weather gear
Food
Soft eski for the cold stuff
Hard eski with frozen ice packs.
Fishing rods and tackle
Camera gear
Zoleo GPS device - SOS

Surprising how much it will hold. Our Lynx has a full yeti cooler on the back, a 9 year old kid peddling, and 200 lbs me sitting on the bow with it still stable. Steering did get wonky. Kayak trips always forget something. I bet they forget the kayak paddle.

The Lynx is a real workhorse. I agree, it can handle a tonne of gear and handles well even when loaded up. Great for kayak camping or taking gear for a picnic or BBQ 👍🏼
