Kayak Camping - 2 Days Island Living (Lake Ouachita)
Спорт
Lisa and I spent 24 Hours on a remote island in the middle of Lake Ouachita, Arkansas. We were surrounded by mountains and witnessed brilliant sunsets / sunrises. This was peak kayak camping!

Great video. It looked like y’all had a really amazing time. I (Kellie) agree with Lisa, I always feel much more comfortable sleeping in the National Forest of Arkansas. Hope to kayak camp with y’all soon. We just got new kayaks!

What's up, Kellie!! Ever since I watched your vid on Lake Ouachita, I've wanted to get some friends together for an island paradise trip to our own private island. Can't wait to lay in a hammock and listen to some reggae while sipping something with pineapple. Gatewood Brown - I just found your channel, binging now. Ps. Your Big Bend trip looked epic! Thanks for the inspiration! Cody and Kellie, catch you on the other.
I’ve been getting a lot more Arkansas camping pushed into my algorithm since it’s been warming up, and I’m happy this one come through to me! Great job on this video! Ouachita is near and dear to us!

I never been kayaking prior to coming across your channel a while back. I always wanted to but never pulled the trigger on it. You and your buddies truly inspired me to get my ass out there and explore every chance I get. I have 4 daughters (ages 20, 18, 16, and 15). I’ll be back for sure! So many places to explore on that lake
Just went canoe camping for the first time with my lady this summer Minnesota. Incredibly rewarding and we're itching to give it another go. The only down side... on our way out we took some wake from an impatient speed boat at a channel crossing. Soaked our gear which was in our backcountry backpacks, including our sleeping bag which made for a rough night. Going to have to look into those dry bags for our next go, and maybe look in AR for our next cross country go.
@GatewoodBrown
2 жыл бұрын
Man sounds like a good time minus the wake! I always say that if you’re boating the gear will get wet somehow. So whatever needs to stay dry should be stashed away in a dry bag. Good thing you guys were heading in!

The Ouachita’s are truly a gorgeous place, been there many times. You captured the beauty of this area very well. For me personally, there’s this strange mysterious energy in this area, it might have something to do with the lack of development, not much tourism, etc. Not sure, but I feel as though as long as we have skilled outdoorsy individuals (such as yourselves) treating these places right, everything will be right with the world.

Thank you for joining the community! Kayaks are a low key but great way to access outdoors that most won’t visit. One of the reasons we love it!

@@GatewoodBrown We were looking to buy used. Then we found we were able to buy new for less than what they were selling used for. We have bought three new kayaks in the last week or so. Our son is 12 and is hard to motivate to do things. He has been in horse riding lessons and is starting to loose interest. Once we got him a kyak, he is all about going out he has been enjoying watching the videos also.

@@southpaw1517 that’s so awesome your son has taken a liking to kayaking. It’s something he will be able to do for the rest of his life if desired. Yeah I’ve been wondering how kayak sales will be since the big box stores ordered so much inventory. We’re the kayaks on sale or just priced well?

@@GatewoodBrown both I think, We live in cental Pennsylvania and we have a store up here called Dunhams. I dont know if yall have them around you or not. I bought my son a 8 foot Sun Dolphin Fiji sit on for $149.99, There is someone selling a used 8 foot Sun Dolphin Maui for $400. I bought a Lifetime Cruise for $239.99 and my wife got a Pelican sit on for $199.99. I can't remember the model. So with tax and everything I have about $625 in three kayaks. Oars were $29.99 and of course PFD's. I know they are possibly not great kayaks but hey, we are in the water right 😀 I figure we can always upgrade at some point. Thanks for your response.

@@southpaw1517 off the cuff those all seem to be half what they were asking last year. That’s an improvement for sure!
