I've got a first gen, first year mule. Never let me down once in 15 years and its not even a 4x4 because that wasn't available the first year they were released. I love Kawasaki, especially their old stuff. I hope this build is a success. I'm a new sub and look forward to the end result.

Ive played with a few of them. Mules were slow and for good reason. The suspension sucks so bad that it may have been better without any. Cant wait to see this project.

Spin that secondary clutch outer forwards and push in at the same time. Will open gap to slide or belt up and over.

Solid project and good idea to ditch the old engine, if this was a quarry unit, you can bet it's been abused.

Thanks for the link to the Duromax. Unfortunately, my Mule is a 620, and the torque converter is on the opposite side. As a result, the head is up against the transmission. I am having a heck of a time trying to get that engine to fit. I will probably need to lift the engine to have enough clearance. I am sure it will turn out good, but boy is it a challenge right now. Wish mine fit as easily as yours did. I am using a bilge blower to move air over the torque converter, and because of the clearance issues, I had to get a longer belt. I will let you know if I ever succeed.

I just picked up a 650kaw prairie engine on the cheap cant wait its buggy time.

Careful grinding on brake linings. 😬. They used to have asbestos in them. I’m not sure if they still do, but I’m sure anything substituted now isn’t any better; we just haven’t heard about it yet!

It definitely looked like the bolt on the head was hitting the gas tank when you guys were jumping on the back of the mule.

Just bought a 2500 mule this morning...Came with a brand new in the box Predator 670 and all the old parts.This should be fun...The original engine is pretty much junk.

That thing is awesome I have the same one with outlaw 2 tires and a gear reduction

You could shim the inside of the secondary clutch to have a slightly wider opening, which would alleviate the belt tightness.

Very cool machine. Just an Idea pressure wash the machine first and you will have a lot less dirt to work with. LOL.

Hey you install the engine backwards. Honda clones the cilinder head goes facing back!! You have it facing forward.

nice. making me excited to get my golf cart down here where i live and do an engine swap. the stock 2 cycle is old and tired. looking at a 212cc tilitson electric start. plan on running a stage one kit, keeping it governed and running a torque converter and a forward reverse tranny. going to be a hoot once i can get it done.

OpposingForces I just finished my 81 Yamaha g1 with a ttr 230cc 6spd and I put a turbo on it I also put a Yamaha Bruin 350 front end on it , its a beast !

3:10 a lot of old hondas are like that too

I would save that head and put it on something turning 9k. It makes no sense to put a ported head on a engine your wanting low rpm torque from because you going to lose low end torque for sure. That is not what ported heads are for. When you port a head your more or less moving your power range up in the rpm.

Strong as a mule

Instead of a longer belt just elongate the engine plate holes 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch towards the rear and move engine back.

Tire was locked up on the Mule.

Isnt a duromax engine rotation different to the Kawasaki fe290d used in the mule ? I did a swap in mine and the Honda engine I used actually spun differently to the Kawasaki so it was super slow in forwards and crazy fast in reverse might of just been me though

if its the ct200u or ct200u-ex the parts and upgrades are almost endless. Watch RBG's walk thru's on each of the four stages. It'll take the stock 6.5hp and bump it up to around 22hp if I remember his estimate correctly. If its the smaller coleman ct100u then it has the 3hp smaller engine and can still be upgraded, just not as much. At least that's been my experience, just harder to find the right size mods.

Should put a honda V65 engine on it. 😁

I sold our mule 3010 4x4 for 500 bucks. All it needed was a fuel pump and fuel pressure relay.

No one like to fix that seats on all that fourwhelers i do jus go to joo ann store and get a piece one yard of vinyl cover and staples

The motor spins the opposite direction than a regular motor I found out the hard way

Ya I had a mule and I put a different motor on it and the gearing was completely backwards

I have had like the of them king quad i did restore and sell bough one for 300 paint nice sell for 700 cuz i mess up messages when i was dealing with custumer i bough the second for 200 fix paint and sell for 26 hundreds no i have a 2008 artic cat 4x4 need the harness
