    Here I thought I was clever writing the engine hours on the oil filter. Maybe you're just clever too ;) I always prefill my filters to saturate the filter media (and maybe a little extra), but that's it when they're on their side like that... which is every filter I've ever changed. I never fill it enough to spill - like you implied, that's wasteful. But I do what I can to get the oil through ASAP. Did this service at 500 hr per the manual.

    GREAT VIDEO. Can you give me your thoughts on rough idle troublshooting? I have a 12 year old Timecutter with a very similar Kawasaki engine. I am diligent about PM but have never had to work on carb or valves. . With air filter an hose off you can see a puff of fuel mix on the miss. Happens once every minute or so but not regular enough for me to expect sticking valve. Plugs are good. Some small amount of harden oil on outside of one value (just long term build up?) OEM fuel filter has always been an issue. Only fills about 1/4 way and on quick turn can run dry. Checked gas tank cap air flow for vapor lock and replaced fuel pump - seems like flow to carb is generally good on level ground. Rebuilding carb now. You think I need to check valves as well.... don't want to go where I don't have to. Thanks Second question: Off mower and linkage the carb thottle is not a free moving as the carb choke - is that by design or do I need a new carb?

    Good video, unfortunately I don't have the confidence to do the valve adjustment on my own. I suck the oil out with an extractor and then crack open the drain valve. With the Kawasaki, there's not a drop running out of the drain after I've sucked it out.

    I have a Kawasaki fx730v on my bad boy outlaw mower. Every since I’ve had it it started surging at 100hrs didn’t really make a difference at full throttle so didn’t pay no attention to it. Now it will die after about 20 minutes of mowing . If I let it sit for a while and come back it’ll start back up and go another 20 minutes . Any ideas what’s wrong with it?

  • @RaymoreRepair

    @RaymoreRepair

    Жыл бұрын

    You only need to move the engine when switching to the other head. I know in many videos they will measure one valve while the other is open and the rotate the engine to do the other one. If you are on TDC compression then you don't need to rotate the engine. Thank you for watching.

  • @RaymoreRepair

    The sealer really is not much of a concern for me as far as getting into the threads of the bolts. As far as getting the cover off next time, I don't have much of a problem with that either. The next time I remove them I will replace the gaskets. The big thing about the sealer is to watch how much you apply, it doesn't take much at all to seal. Thank you for watching.

    The air pre filter was loaded with dust and dirt and is easily removed and can be washed and cleaned. Just a slight glimpse at the air filter? That's not enough. You need to look through the folds of the paper filter for dust and dirt. This is probably the simplest task of this inspection and you passed right over it. When you $500 carburetor starts operating poorly your gonna wish you'd cleaned or replaced that $20 part
