Kawasaki: Autonomous Underwater Vehicle "SPICE"

Ғылым және технология

This video gives an explanation to help the understanding on how the world's first subsea pipeline inspection robot "SPICE" works.
Focusing on the growing demand for maintenance of subsea pipelines in the oil and gas fields, Kawasaki has been developing the autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) called "SPICE” (Subsea Precise Inspector with Close Eyes), which was based on a fusion of submarine and industrial robot technologies fostered in-house over many years.
Verification tests for the close-range inspections of the subsea pipelines by the AUV were successfully conducted from June 1 to 12, 2020, off the coast of Awaji Island in Hyogo Prefecture.
Kawasaki will continue to carry out verification tests using equipment fitted with various inspection sensors and keep on developing high performance, high-quality products capable of uncrewed, automated operation for the AUV market where demand is expected to grow, while proactively pursuing commercialization in FY 2021.

did you not watch the video? it scans pipelines to find any leaks or any other problems that may occur in future, would you rather oil leak into the ocean without anyone knowing or use this and be able to detect issues and fix/stop them
