I was lucky enough to be born in and grow up in San Francisco in the late 40s, which made me old enough to participate in and appreciate the music scene of the 60s. I have been playing bass consistently since the late 60s and site Jack Casady as my first influence. I lost count of how many times I have seen him play with the Airplane and its many derivatives. Totally coincidentally, I now play in a guitar and bass duo. Since both of us have back issues, we call ourselves the Broken Back Blues Band, but perhaps a better name might be Cold Lox, as we are both Jewish. Great music from two unbelievable musicians. Inspiring for those of us who are in our 70s and still playing live (I'm 74).

Tuna will always be a tasty treat. Just go easy on it(the mercury) 50 years of tuna for me and I'm not bored yet!
The San Fran bands loved to take their time between songs. Take the hint and slow down, everyone!
3 video versions of "Blood stained banders" are available on you tube right now. Highly motivating lyrics.

@d-houston You have to be 55 to even remember ANYTHING about the Vietnam war. As a buddy says "Its rapidly becoming a long time ago."

Love the sound of that acoustic bass. Wish the vocals were more clear.

The audio is the sound in the room, not from the mixing board.
Jack never did go for little basses!
LOL....Jack is looking at him like hurry the fuck up and play.
Jack at 6:18. And on. Soloing. Tap your foot and count 4. Nice.
La bass accoustique est extra
Reminds me when me and my buddy used to jam all the time in high school, not even close to that good though, ha!
Looks as though Jack needs some support to hold that bass in position.
Not 100% sure but I believe these two guys have been together longer than Mick and Keith. Teir association predates the Airplane.
Jack Cassidy on bass, eyebrow, and round hole.
The bass was built by Tom Ribbecke. Here is a video about the process. It is long but I found it interesting. kzread.info/dash/bejne/iZ5-x9ydf8iWe6g.html

It's a "Diana bass", made by Ribbecke.
Feels like Phil and Jerry, but they never did this kind of solo acoustic duet. Oh well. So tuna wins.
I got to check out Hot Tuna about 15 years ago. I didn't have a pay any thing to be in attendance! Is Cassidy related to Joanne Mitchell. I wonder if they can a child together. 😅

At the end of a Jrad concert, I was saying that Jack C is THE absolute best bassist. Dave D (Jrad bassist) stopped as he heard me and we wound up talking for half an hour on our love n respect for Jack, being blown away by his unique style n agreeing that he truly is the best. Got lots of Jorma stories as well. Lol
