Katyusha is a Russian wartime song, depicting a girl-Katyusha-longing for her love. It was first sung by female Soviet industrial school students, as they gave a goodbye to soldiers heading to the battle front of WWII. This piano arrangement will have you hooked on the catchy melody by Matvei Blanter, and have you humming the tune all day long! Please enjoy, and if you want to help support our Sheet Music Boss channel, consider paying a small fee for this package. Thank you!

Lyrics:
Transliteration:
Rastvitali yablani i grusha
Paplyli tumani nat rikoy
Vykhadila na byerik katyusha
Na vysoky byerik na krutoy
Vykhadila, pyenyu zavadila
Pra stipano, sizava arla
Pra tavo katorava lyublila
Pra tavo tchi pisma birigla
Oy, ty, pyesnya, pisyenka divikhchya
Ty liti za yasnym soltsim fslyet
I voytsu dalyech pagraduchye
Ot katyushi pirigay privyet
Pust' on fspomnit dyevushku prastuyu
Pust' islychit, kak ana payot

English:
Apple trees and pear trees went into blooming,
River mists began a floating flow,
She came out and went ashore, Katyusha!
On the lofty bank, on the steeply shore.
She came out and sang she song about
Her young friend, the bluish eagle from steppe
All about the one she dearly loved,
The one whose letters she treasured and kept.
Hey, a song, the song of the young girl,
Fly and go after the bright Sun,
Find a soldier on the distant borderlands
Say hello from Katya waiting long for him.
Let him remember the young and simple maiden,
Let him hear the song she now sings,
Let him protect his Motherland for sure,
And their love Katyusha will protect.

Apple and pear trees were blooming, Mists floated over the river. Katyusha went ashore, On the high bank on the steep. Katyusha went ashore, On the high bank on the steep. Went out, started a song, About the steppe grey eagle. About the one I loved, About the one whose letters I was saving. About the one I loved, About the one whose letters I was saving. Oh, you're a song, a girl's song, You fly after the clear sun And a fighter on the far frontier Say hello from Katyusha And a fighter on the far frontier Say hello from Katyusha. Let him remember a simple girl, Let him hear her sing, Let him protect his native land, And Katyusha will save love. Let him protect his native land, And Katyusha will save love. Apple and pear trees were blooming, Mists floated over the river. Katyusha went ashore, On the high bank on the steep. Katyusha went ashore, On the high bank on the steep. The parting of a young beauty with her lover, who goes to fulfill his duty to the Fatherland "to the far frontier." What could be simpler

fun fact: german workers drank rocket fuel, because of the high percentage of alcohol in it. When that was found out the nazis put some poison it it, but the people kept drinking it and got sick or they just left. so in short: russian tanks run on vodka, but german factory worker drink rocket fuel.

For some reason, listening to this take on the song with just a sole piano stirs more of my soul than a whole band and quire ever did. Maybe it's just the harmony between each hand and the extra flourishes that are simply impossible to coordinate between 50 people, or the dark texture and tone of the piano, but what's for sure is that the dedication put towards making this composition was immense. Thank you for this extra addition to KZread, it really made my day.

This is the first song I learned in my life. I was 4-5 years old. I spent the summer at a dacha with my grandparents and they told me the words. I then thought it would be great if I had a wife named Katya. It's funny but after more than 20 years I met with my "...And love Katyusha saves...": o)

Rozkwitała jabłoń i ta grusza, Mgły okryły bystrej rzeki bieg. Nad wodami roni łzy Katiusza, Patrząc tęskno na wysoki brzeg. Śpiewa Kasia w cały świat szeroki O sokole, chłopcu z innych stron. O sokole, chłopcu czarnookim, A serduszko bije w niej jak dzwon. Oj ty piosnko, piosnko ty dziewicza, Na wiatrowych skrzydłach w niebo leć. Memu chłopcu tam na pograniczu, Mej miłości płomień w sercu wznieć. Niech przypomni prostą swą dziewczynę, Niech usłyszy jej nieśmiały zew, Niechaj wiernie broni swej ojczyzny, Miłość Kasia strzeże jak swój śpiew. Uschła jabłoń i przekwitła grusza, Mgły zatarły bystrej rzeki ślad. Nad wodami roni łzy Katiusza, Taki szary teraz dla niej świat. Polish version comrades.

[Young Katyusha came strolling by the hour, on the steep banks, o'er the rocky ground] By the river bank she sang a love song, of her hero in a distant land. [Of the one she dearly loved for so long, holding tight his letter in her hand.] Oh my song, song of a maiden's true love, to my dear one travel with sun. [To the one whom Katyusha loved so, bring my greeting to him one by one.] Let him know l that I am true and faithful, let him hear the love song that I send. [Tell him as he defends our home that grateful, true Katyusha our love will defend.]
