P.S. Champagne problems is another way of saying “first world problems” basically - having personal problems that don’t compare to bigger issues in the world like poverty, war, etc. This is arguably top 2 albums from Katy for me!! It dives into some sounds that I appreciated from her earlier works, and it felt more personal as she wrote this album on the heels of becoming a mother. This is a great album. Tells her story since the Witness era. She shows her versatility by using different styles but keeping that Katy Perry Style. I think this album was slept on when it shouldn’t.

I think this is a really underrated album. It was overshadowed by the odd choice of clown theming that didn’t play as well with “serving looks” and also her being pregnant and not being able to perform the same way. AND COVID kind of putting an awkward shadow on all her “get over it” “don’t be sad” messaging. With her Witness era being considered a “flop” by Stan culture (even though it really was not a flop by a lot of standards, it just didn’t perform the way her previous work had) she really fell into a dark place and this album kinda tells that story. Hints “flipping off the flop” line in Not the end of the world. Watch the videos with a grain of salt because they were all produced during Covid. She used all female creators tho during the album videos.

To me the ending “There it is Kathryn” is about her realizing her smile truly is there and there to stay. It hits me every time. Tucked and champagne problems might grow on you! I actually love every single song including those 2. It would feel incomplete without them given the context, her and Orlando bloom broke up for a while. And then got back together, got engaged, and had their daughter Daisy.💕 My fav albums are Witness & Smile🙌🏽 (Prism is amazing too)

Yes katy's name is Kathryn LOL, she always said this album is meant for her to look back on and a reminder she got through all of it and can come back up again. This album peaked #5, dropped heavily unfortunately , but this album wasn't made to be a hit, as she've said In many interviews she doesn't care where her career (numbers) wise are she just wants to make Music. Never Really Over was a Droplet Single in 2019 peaked at #15 (was her most successful single since Witness) Harley's In Hawaii was a droplet single released in 2019 (failed to peak on the Billboard Charts) Small Talk (droplet single) (not feature on album but should have been) peaked at #81 somehow beat Harley's in Hawaii, the song wasn't as good as previous releases the official first single was Daisies peaked at #40 the second was Smile (failed to peak) Third single was What Makes a Woman (never peaked) overall Era promotion was all done by Katy and Paid by Katy. :) because capital records suck! :D this is one of my fav albums tho probs like my #1 album.

If you haven’t already, I HIGHLY recommend taking a look into an Artist named ALMA, she’s incredibly talented and her most recent album “Have U Seen Her?” is a pretty great listen, she’s definitely slept on as an artist. Her and Tove Lo are actually good friends as far as I’m aware and have collaborated on multiple tracks which is pretty cool. Would definitely love to hear your opinions on her work if you ever get round to having a listen!! Love Smile btw, really wish it received more recognition. Great reaction as always!
