What impressed me the most on Hokusai's ukiyoes is his ぼboldness on composition. Every frame has a unique composition and that works really well. He is a true genius.

I loved watching this video. The colors are not intense but yet are still able to draw you to the focal points of the painting. Hokusai had a very diverse and intricate palette of colors that he used to create these masterpieces. All of the paintings share a similar style, value, and texture, but every one has a different look and meaning. This video was so relaxing to watch and really brought the creativity out inside of me.

Ukiyoe was a commercial woodblock art and was a subculture then. They were stuck on the wall like a poster. And the people who have come to Edo in travel bought these as a present.

The sea has a special song for it's children, my sweet little wave toying with the shore, gathering shells and listening to the secrets they tell. Be as silent as the waters of the world, awash in the lalabye waves that kiss and coo, for land's pain, has floated off, away, beloved...
