Katoomba is the chief town of the City of Blue Mountains in New South Wales Australia and the administrative headquarters of Blue Mountains City Council. Katoomba is situated on the Great Western Highway 102 km (63 mi) west of Sydney and 39 km (24 mi) south-east of Lithgow. Katoomba railway station is on the Main Western line.
Katoomba is a base for bush and nature walks in the surrounding Blue Mountains.
Katoomba's main industry is tourism based on its mountain scenery. The rock formation known as the Three Sisters, viewable from Echo Point about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) south of the main town, attracts four million visitors each year.
Katoomba is served by hotels and guest-houses, the oldest of which is the Carrington Hotel, established in 1882 and occupying the highest point in town. The town centre, centered on Katoomba Street, features dozens of cafes and restaurants, including the Paragon which dates to the early 20th century, as well as a number of second-hand book and antique stores.
Katoomba was connected to the Main Western railway line in 1874, when the station was called "The Crushers". Katoomba railway station is now served by the Blue Mountains Line.
The Great Western Highway is the main road access route.

I've lived in Katoomba for 10 years, so many memories but I've known it for close to 20 years. Left in 2006, miss that beautiful place and magnificent surroundings. World Heritage wilderness.
Surely never forget the lovely town, memories beyond the timeline

Right at the end the Carrington Hotel where Roxette did their Vulnerable video. I stayed there to check out the scenes, awesome.

once i remember i was 20 yers old, hanging with mates in Penrith then we had invitation to a party somewhere in the city the next fucking day we woke up in katoomba train station 😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣 never forgotten missing every corner there 🥰🥰🥰

The blue mountains area is the best for sight seeing. The Hotel BLUE, is an awesome place to spend a few nights.

I was just there in 10th of April visiting the Blue Mountains. Had a wonderful lunch at Lily's Pad Cafe! Thanks for the memories!

Had no idea it was so big.
I have visited Blue Mountains 3 times, but I have no time to visit Katoomba. If I have 1 more chance, I will be there. And... The Carrington Hotel! It is beautiful. I will remember it.

Yep, spent my high school years there (when I bother to attend !) And yes it certainly has changed, but then haven't we all.
Katoomba's known for its many Art-Deco style shopfronts.
Thankyou. Never knew Woolies big w and Aldi was there. I walk from the station to the three sisters. I had my mum with me then. It was very long walk back in the 90’s. That was last time I was there by public transport. My mum can’t walk now at 86 yrs. Thankyou for showing the progress of the the town.

@@johnstaring3210 Thankyou for sharing. I saw the beginning of changes happening in the mountain and was surprise. Where there was bush were houses and few new roads. Surprise to see so many houses being built there when it use to be bush. I thought it was a national park but some of the residents had cats and they backed onto the bush. I am a cat lady but my cats are inside cats because of the wildlife. Thankyou again for sharing. If I ever visit again I think I do the bus ride from the station not as fit as I use to be.

Oh dear. Overflowing garbage bins is a disgrace. Looks like a lot of tourists this day. I’m a local and did enjoy this walk with you. Katoomba has for years been a tourist destination but it’s lost a lot of spark which is a great shame. Parts are looking unlove and totally uncared for which is such a shame as it’s a beautiful area of the world thanks for sharing Katoomba

Great places like Toms eats and parakeet Cafe , paragon Cafe all gone Katoomba not as good as it use to be
Katoomba has such an amazing location but suffers from a really sad reality, vacant shops and people on drugs.
