Excellent troubleshooting and repair video. It is amazing how some will let a perfectly fine locomotive go for next to nothing. I always enjoy taking a non-functioning locomotive home and getting her running again. And in your case a Kato N-scale SD40-2. Good find and save! Keep up the good work and I hope you get to feeling better soon. :-)

I ran into the same issue on a Kato SD40-2. It was a DCC equipped unit so I didn't get it for $20 but The little plastic bearing block had siezed on the shaft and had the thing bound up. Freed it up with a pin vice drill and some Labelle oil and it runs like a new one. I'd have bought every non runner they had for $20! Heck of a deal! Let me know if you feel like selling that thing for a tidy profit. I'm looking to continue to expand my SD40 fleet.

40 bucks for a couple of nice running Kato's! Can't beat that with a stick. Score!
