Katniss Turns 5! Celebrating with her gotcha story + a special giveaway!

In honor of Katniss's fifth birthday I share her touching gotcha story plus do a special birthday giveaway! Directions for entering are in the video. Five winners will be chosen randomly on June 15, and notified in the comments. They will each receive an Amazon gift card so they can buy cat merch of their choice. This is our way of giving back and saying thank mew for being such pawsome friends! Katniss's gotcha story is truly a "who rescued who" moment so I can't think of a better way to celebrate five years with her than sharing this story with you! What a gorgeous cake and Katniss is very beautiful too. I enjoyed finding out about her gotcha story. The best kinds of furbabies have a way of finding us rather than the other way around. New subscriber here. :)

@@sunnystormy4973 instructions are in the last couple minutes of the birthday video but essentially it’s really simple: just watch the video and share your cat’s “gotcha” story in the comments, then on June 15 I will pick five winners randomly of everyone who entered and notify them in the comments. Right now I am not sure if there are five entries so odds are good!
2008 adopted two cats from Cincinnat Oh. Def was a Gotcha moment. We took them back to my hometown and begin to let them gets use to our environment. So yes Gotcha Cat Day def special day for me as well. Hope you do more Gotcha Vids:)

Thank you for sharing your gotcha story with us! I completely understand your feelings with the loss of Maddie, needing time to grieve and not being ready for another cat. And then the feeling of Katniss showing up when you didn’t even know you needed her! Kerbi’s turned five in March of 2023. If we go back to April 2018, I lost my boy Smokey aged 15 to a long list of medical conditions. I cared for him night and day for the last eight years of his life. I was truly heartbroken when the time came for us to part ways. I knew at some point I would get another kitty but needed my time to grieve. I suffer from chronic pain so I was not working for many years and with the loss of Smokey I felt like I lost my whole existence. What did I even need to get out of bed for anymore? My husband kept sending me pictures of kittens needing homes and I kept telling him NO I don’t want one! One day in May 2018 we saw there was an adoption event at PetSmart. My husband wanted a kitten and I was not ready, but I decided to get up the next morning and go see the kittens (having no intentions of actually getting one). When I got there I spied a fluffy, striped kitty who was absolutely adorable and exactly the kind of kitten we would choose. I sent a photo to my husband at work and he rushed there right away. We met the kitten and were asked if we wanted to take him home. But I said no, not right now, that we would come back later. My husband went back to work and I went home. I cried so much… I was terrified to get a kitten, when I still had such a broken heart. We went back out that evening and I was standing there watching him, I couldn’t make my mind up to get him or not. A mother and daughter noticed how hard I was looking at him and I said he’s supposed to be mine. She said then what are you waiting for? I explained my hesitance and the loss of Smokey. If it weren’t for her and her daughter, I’m not sure if I would have brought Kerbi home or not. It was only one month after losing Smokey that we adopted Kerbi. I was so emotional taking him home that day, not knowing if I was doing the right thing. But, he was exactly what I needed! He gave me purpose, kept me company and made me happy again. I am forever grateful that I went to PetSmart that day! @adventure.kerbi

That woman and her daughter were meant to meet you, and I am so glad you got Kerbi that day and am honored to follow his adventures on Instagram! I totally understand your grief over Smokey - that would be extremely difficult and I know he will always occupy a special place in your heart! ❤️❤️❤️

rescued 3 bobcat mix and 3 maine coon the meowmys all outlived their babies.. the oldest lived to 22 years old i have another comment below
