Katja Tries Couture Skirt Sewing Techniques

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I made a skirt using several couture sewing techniques: Silk organza underlining, Hong Kong finishing, couture waistband, pressing, silk lining with French seams, and a couture hem.
For more couture sewing techniques, I recommend the following books:
Lynda Maynard, The dressmaker's handbook of couture sewing techniques:
amzn.to/3unee6k
Lorna Knight, Complete dressmaking skills: amzn.to/42rkUNi
Roberta C. Carr: Couture... the art of fine sewing: amzn.to/4bnfKGh
The first two books have partly the same stuff but the Complete dressmaking skills is better for beginners as it has lots of basic stuff as well. Roberta Carr's book is more detail-focused but it has stuff in there that the other two don't cover.

What a lovely cozy winter skirt 😻😻 The wool fabric is gorgeous. I wish I had some! The jacket is the perfect partner for this skirt.

Wonderful skirt with so many lovely details! This video is very helpful for many of us, who like to make garments slowly.

Beautiful! I have a piece of wool in my Clan tartan, and this type of skirt would be a good option. I love the red jacket with it!

Wool is wonderful, but also can be frustrating. I've steamed in so many pleats... Lovely reveal! That jacket is cute! White blouse, skirt and jacket and you'll be academic! :D

In those academic circles I used to live, I was the only one wearing skirts or anything classier than jeans and teeshirts! We knew when our professor had a guest when he appeared in a proper shirt instread of a ratty looking sweater that was full of holes!

Very nice work. One thing though, if you possibly can please mute the sewing machine sound when you voice over, it was quite distracting and difficult to hear your voice. Thank you.
