My kids have handled my transition exceptionally well. It was interesting how my son came to me after I had been on HRT for only a month and told me " I like you better as Katie. Please don't change." I broke down into tears and it made me feel better about my decision to transition.

I think the false starts and subsequent returns to transitioning proves conclusively that you are on the right track with your life. And with all due respect, your photos look like you are becoming an All-American soccer mom! Best of luck to you and your family. I look forward to your thoughtful and heartfelt videos.

You have transitioned beautifully. The pictures after your first and second attempts at transition show how much you were struggling and how hard you were trying to not give in to your inner feelings, it's like with each picture you were looking increasingly depressed within while trying so hard to be happy on the outside. Being true to who we are within fairly requires a lot of sacrifice and soul searching, but it's worth it.

It wasn't an issue of making up my mind. It was fear that kept me from continuing with transitioning in the past. It has never been a question of being sure that I knew I was female, it was an overwhelming fear of being alone because of losing friends and family to be who I am. If your never felt that fear before than you wouldn't understand. I have overcome that fear and I am now happier than i've ever been my whole life and it gets better every single day.

mychaoticlife1 * Your video came up on KZread auto play. Good video. Great telling of your personal journey. That fear of being cast alone is very real. Certainly, many of us find that our family and ‘friends’ abandon us at that crucial time when we need their support. This fear of anticipating isolation controls when and how we begin Transition, continue Transition. I began my adult Transition at age 18 knowing those risks. It hurts having no family and having lost nearly all my ‘friends’. I consider that is for the better. I chose to not go through the social obligations as you. I can comprehend your decisions, having been through the personal deliberations that you likely encountered. There is no easy way other than literally Transition during early childhood. *

Hi Katie, we're a group of college students doing research on the topic, we're fascinated by your story and feel really proud to have stumbled upon this video. We were hoping you could clarify: What do you mean you identify as pansexual? How did the general public react to your transition? What would you want people in our class to know about any of this? I hope you can give us your permission to share these comments. We're proud to share your story. All the best, 4 students from Madison, WI

I have worked with at least 30 trans M/F over the years. Perhaps the most important aspect of having this phenomenon become part of our public discourse is for "early on" trans people to understand themselves and not take on attributes to perhaps make themselves fit in to the norm. What I mean is, don't get married and have children to save your masculinity. Having children is a 100% commitment and "the self" should be reasonably subordinated for the welfare and development of the children. Indeed, from my experience, the notion that "everyone in the family is fine" is simply not true. It's lying to yourself and it's not fair. My hope is that self awareness and less confusion takes hold early-on in a trans person's development ... as society recognizes this phenomenon. In the long run ... there will be much less heartache for everybody.

Many treaten Transpeople try to fight against it. ie go to the military, or raise a family - to be masculine, to be a man. But they loose this fight.
