I remember the time where she decided to burn a lot of her “disposable” processions, which i found rather sad - she could have easily donated these things to charity, or if she was so desperate to save herself from bankruptcy she could have had someone sell them on eBay to raise funds. Sadly she sees it as disposable or junk and that’s half the problem. I went through a stage of “hoarding” and it was a time of depression where “things” made me feel more secure. It’s not healthy and I’ve stopped the collection of crap I didn’t need - it’s a buffer to facing up to a deeply unhappy period of time. The relief to have gotten rid of, by way of donation, disposing of unsaleable items or selling to make extra funds, is so gratifying and mentally freeing is so satisfying - but outside help is needed to achieve this... I hope she gets the help to move forward, in an overwhelming task is such a blessing - good luck to her. But at no point did I have the ability to splurge on exotic holidays and put the blinkers on. Help is there and vitally important

What a dirty mess, living like that must be horrible

Whenever one has so much possessions from yesterday then they either must bin, skip or flog it at a car boot sale etc! Whenever there is no longer any storage space left, then the hardest thing for a hoarder to admit they are infact a hoarder! If left unchecked it can mount up, to the point that can cause stress and depression were everything else will start to get out of control! Hoarding can be seen as a visual representation of a tell tale sign what maybe going on in one's social and personal life but once everything is cleared out so will everything else fall into place usually if consistently maintained! It really all depends how long and badly one leaves it that will depend on how quickly everything else will fall back into place! The real attention to detail does not rest on one's own cosmetic image but that of the space in which it surrounds one's cosmetic image that really should be applied!
