    Succesful athletes get tested ALL.THE.TIME. Unfortunately you can never really test enough. An athlete is clean until they decide not to be. If they never get caught; that means they're always clean. I'm glad they test so rigourously and glad that Katy's have proven to be clean.

    Steroids do NOT help you athletically. PED’s help RECOVERY time so one can train harder. If Miss Ledecky took male hormones she would look like the Jamaican female sprinter. What the IOC looks for is a product called EPO. EPO help process oxygen. A traditional male muscle enhancing Steriod would hurt KL’s time. Mass is not conducive to fast times in the pool. KL is a genetic freak and highly intelligent. Understands the training necessary to swim at this level. 5 to 7 thousand calories every day to maintain her stamina. And most importantly she trains mostly with men. And she has been known to break more than a few men in the pool. A colossal athlete regardless of gender.

    It's a video: telling us who's first and second is no info at all. Announcing the splits were would have been useful. Yes, there's an on-screen timer; but it's only cumulative. If you deem that sufficient, why was there an announcer at all? (At least, she should have had a stopwatch!)

  • @stephenbeck7222

    @stephenbeck7222

    The announcer is on-site speaking to the crowd. There is probably a time board somewhere in the room just not in view of the camera. I would think USA swimming could afford to put the graphics on their published videos but I guess not.

    Lap counters. 50 m is one lap so this race has 30 laps. I think they only do that for the 800 and 1500 races because they’re long enough that even a professional swimmer may not be able to keep an internal clock for how much more they have to swim.

    Kerin Perkins in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics Gold medal for the 1500 also had 40 strokes per 50 meter lap. Although not 1500 m, but 800 m, Ian Thorpe when he swam his 800 m World Record in 2001 had, would you believe, 28 strokes per 50 meter lap! Have a look, it is mind blowing! No doubt that when he came out of retirement in 2012, he should have gone for the 1500 not the 100. Did not make sense...you don't sprint quicker the older you get.

There was no laboratory evidence in the Armstrong case either, although all scientific data clearly showed that his accomplishments were inhumane. One cannot explain these achievements with "hard training". There is infinite doping in the NBA, but the players are banned especially when they have smoked marijuana. A joke. But, it's true that by the same "doping" always wins the one who is more talented and better trained.

Fourthly the fact that NBA players are banned for smoking marijuana is completely irrelevant.
