@@Bluenose352 but she's actually deaf she in real life has meniere's disease her father and mother also has it but i dont know if they in real life sound like the interviewer as alot of deaf people would

She is my biggest role model. I have the same thing!

I'm hard of hearing no specific desease of anything really. I have ringing and pain and they can't figure out why. I read lips to get by. I started to talk better when I was none and now people can't tell so I hide it we cuz I'm kinda embarrassed. Recently I found out that eating disorder s can worsen ear problems or creat new ones so it has been a hard journey over the course of fifteen years. Seeing her be so incredible has helped a lot

@@lilynicholson9841 specifically bulimia can burn you hearing tube things from the vomit and acid reflux and when you loose too much weight it losses the natural shape and proximity of certain anatomy (my ENT and other hearing specialist have told me this over the years) just some good information to have about the way your body works

She sounds different then she did on switched at birth don’t judge me

Yes. She used a deaf "accent" to better portray her character.

I saw in an interview (or read it on Wikipedia or something like that) that she used a socalled deaf accent on SAB to make the deafness of her character visible to the audience. Her hearing impairment started to develop from her 17th so hearing and speech pattern had a normal development as in other non deaf persons.

I believe Katie identifies as HOH because of her Meniere's Disease, so she's still part of the Deaf community. But I do agree that they should have casted a profoundly Deaf individual to play the lead role in the show

@@bethanyloshusan2244 Definitely right about casting someone who is profoundly deaf, *BUT*...it's important not to discount HOH individuals too. It's part of why I feel stuck in the middle a lot. Too deaf to be hearing, but too hearing to be Deaf.

@@SopranoRocker2010 yeah for sure! i didnt mean to discount HOH people. i just meant that in the show, I believe her character is supposed to be profoundly Deaf after getting meningitis as a baby so it would be most appropriate to actually find someone who fit that role :/ (i might be wrong about her character's story though, i haven't watched in a long time)
