Joselerio M PBS too. Charlie Rose didn't pay his interns and he subjected them to sexual overtures, according to reports. Isn't that servitude? Comcast needs to do a cleanup with an independent investigation over at NBC. And PBS needs to ensure oversight of its independent producers like Charlie Rose, or risk eroding the public trust on which it counts. Something is rotten at the aforementioned organizations for this vile behavior to go on for so long. We need to thank Ronan Farrow for shining the black light.

Autumn Meadows I totally agree. That's what sets Ann apart. Matt has that same mentality that Bryant Gumbel had which lead to his demise as well. Even though it was slightly different circumstances but there in lies the rub. Men with too much power and no empathy for their fellow man/woman kind.

Kathie, what are you talking about? I quit my job five years ago because of bad behavior from my boss. I told HR and they stood by him because he's important to the company. Now, I can't find a job in my field without a reference, as they relayed this information to him. I hope it is a different time now. This is good news. I doubt NBC would have fired Lauer without evidence. I have no sympathy for Lauer. There hasn't been much sympathy for me or other women like me until now. I don't want sympathy. I want respect. Why should we be sympathetic for this man?

I’m sure you’d feel very sad as well if one of your close friends had done something this horrible. It’s not that she doesn’t feel horrible for what happened to the victims because they all do. Yes Kathy Lee, we are all lowly humans needing forgiveness. However, Matt Lauer is a grown man and allegedly had a "way of life" living in this sort of behavior. Predators come in all shades, sizes, and roles. I personally hold people in powerful or leadership positions to a HIGHER standard. If anyone is innocent--- the truth will show itself. Those who have nothing to hide--- will remain standing in the light. Thank you

I remember watching "Today" once, over 20 years ago, when Matt Lauer made a remark that I thought was really inappropriate. He said Katie Couric wanted naked pictures of Mel Gibson but has to settle for Joe Witte (a meteorologist for "Today" at the time). Couric just kind of shook her head and tried to "haha" it off, but I couldn't believe it. That was an out-of-the-blue sexually tinged comment that embarrassed a young, undeserving Katie Couric, who had in no way provoked it even as "banter". I thought it was really inappropriate and weird and it's stuck with me for 20-25 years (must have been early '90s).

It is very disgusting and unprofessional to see all these long very, very sad faces. For a accused and fired predator. This one the reasons why.It takes some women and men. So long to report sexaual abuse and harassment in the work place.Because when a famous ,or just well loved, respected and high paid cash cow for a company. Assaults a woman or man. They feel they want be believed if they report it or they will be fired. Everybody is talking about their warm fuzzy feelings about Matt. What about his victim or victims. Who feels sorry for her? Report the story and keep your personal feelings to their selves.

If *you* had ever been caught doing something that your friends or family thought was out of your character, wouldn't you want your loved ones to show you love and compassion, or would you expect them to throw you under the bus/disown you? I agree wholeheartedly. When Savannah tried to get some tears rolling, it just didn't happen. She couldn't stand him and Al with the weather tried to be saddened but he couldn't stand him. I wouldn't be surprised if Willy Geist steps into those shoes. Whatever poor old Matt did, it must be a doozy. I always liked Ann Curry and what he did to Ann and god knows how many other people is justified karma 3 times over. I'm sure the producer told all of them to put on a sad façade intead of popping out the champagne.

May all the people of our great nation find ways to hold abusers responsible AND give them opportunities to EARN healing and forgiveness while we respect and support the women who have been abused. Together we can create an environment in which ALL people treat each other with respect.

Kathy Lee’s response was spot on. Rarely do we get such honesty & willingness by a celebrity to share their true feelings & emotions, coupled by their ability to share one of the most painful moments of betrayal, forgiveness & redemption in their own personal life. Life is complicated. I’ve always liked Kathy Lee, but this video of her discussing the Matt Lauer situation makes me love & respect her so much more.

This was a rational interview until the end when they start empathizing with Matt and encouraging forgiveness. This man knowingly abused his power, serially cheated on his wife, betrayed his colleagues and hurt many women (and his family) in the process. These women clearly have strong cognitive dissonance (struggling with two different realities at the same time) but it would have been wise to think through their statements more before speaking. Ultimatley, this was a terribly LONG OVERDUE firing, a massive improvement to the safety of women at NBC, but more importantly, a major signal to the world about how we need to respect women.

Why feel sorry for Matt Lauer? He is a RICH, WHITE, EDUCATED CELEBRITY, he will not be facing foreclosure (probably a penthouse apartment), he will not have to remove his children from private school, his rich, white, educated friends will not abandon him. His wife will not divorce him. He will not lose anything from this. Matt Lauer will most likely gain a talk show, a podcast, and other benefits that will keep him connected to his rich, white celebrity lifestyle. Matt Lauer will be just fine.
