So I've tried to find the best quality versions of the interview and performance from Kate's debut in Ireland - I've tried to make them as 'clean' as possible with no captions that were not on the original broadcast.

Her mother was Irish from County Waterford ❤ and I love the way she protects the privacy of her family, such a mature head on young shoulders.I don't know what Gay Byrne on the Late Late show audience would have of thought of her.

@@RebelofIreland There's no such thing. My GGF was Irish. So what? There's no such thing as Irish blood or "the creative Celtic gene". If there was less of this sectarianism in Ireland the world would be a far better place.

IIRC, this was one of her first appearances on TV, just after her first one at German TV (Bios Bahnhof, Feb 9th, 1978)! Then there was also TOTP...

Thanks I just looked it up it was broadcast 25th March 1978 so just a month after the very first appearance.
So, that mike isn't plugged in. Is it just a prop? Was Kate Bush lip syncing! If so it's the most perfect lip syncing ever! I sincerely apologize if I'm wrong. 🤪

In fairness to Gay Byrne, he always was a condescending prick. Kate a young girl giving it loads and him acting like a creepy school principal.

You have to remember in the British Isles (Britain and Ireland) their is no kissing cheek to cheek, esp in Ireland during the 70's.
Pour Kate, j'aurais même envisagé le baise-pied mais avec une communauté de fans seulement 😊
