Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Kraftwerk released "Computerlove" back in 1981, a song in which a man has a lonely night and needs a "data date". Cue forward to 2006 and Coldplay asked Kraftwerk if they could use the chord in their song "Talk". They agreed. I respect Kate Bush tremendously and she is definitely an important influence to many artists today. Lyrically and thematically she didn't go into unchartered waters however. She never did the same song twice though, unlike many other artists who often follow a very narrow formula and thus are very limited. The explanation would be the Kate started producing her own albums from The Dreaming forward so she didn't need to compromise with some big name producer wanting to produce "hit music". I understand she's completely independent now with her own label too. She's truly an inspiration to any true musician.

@@colinecollard533 You make many good points. However, and no offense to you or Kraftwerk, "Computer Love" was on a very different level. It's about a lonely guy calling a number on the screen to get a date, period. It stays on the surface of things. "Deeper Understanding", in my opinion, takes it many steps further by digging into cyberaddiction and confusing virtual relationships with real ones. That's what was/is so visionary about it.

Love it. Chilling, horrifying in its way. Exactly what I expect from a teenager who gave us "Hammer Horror" and "James and the Cold Gun." She hasn't changed in terns of the profundity that compels her even if the technological has changed. She's utterly unique, an artist of extremity. This video epitomizes all that and more. Kate Bush is beyond taste, beyond fashion, and I love her for it. This video is constant rotation. Thank you, Kate Bush.

Reminds me of entertainers and politicians who proselytize about saving the environment and preserving the world's resources as they ride around in Lamborghinis and fly on their private jet airplanes. Feels good to say it though, right? P.S. I highly doubt you've thrown your phone "in a river" anytime in the last 5 years. What you have done is use it everyday, paid your monthly charges and upgraded at least once over that time period.

The Sensual World is a special album for me - it introduced me to Kate Bush but it also represents one of the final outings for my guitar idol Alan Murphy before his untimely death. This song had an immediate effect on me - the lonely melancholic growth of addiction, shutting out the disconnect with the real world. All the original elements from 1989 are here albeit in different quantities/locations but there are two major 2011 changes: new drum and vocal tracks. Contd…

This musical upgrade serves as an improved soundtrack to the accompanying video, which itself communicates the plot most effectively. Even though old fans are familiar with the original arrangement, this version is a worthwhile adaptation & will likely catch on famously.

Dear good-hearted Kate still sharing her beautifully mystical way at mastering jazziness. Her praises can't keep up with her accomplishments.

Kate is the most talented and she saw this back then. Amazing, can't wait for the new album and Kate please be in your videos, you are still beautiful, none of your fans are 25 anymore, no matter how much we wish it. Cher does it and she is older than you so bring it back Miss Kate! I'm a lifelong fan!

I actually think the computer voice really adds to the mood of the song as it resembles a robotic voice, hence the technology refered to in the song

it is amazing, what kind of inspiracy she has about 20 years ago to see to future of the millions of people who sitting in front of their computer and chatting instead of talking face to face to each other, hided behind a synonym, .... just brilliant, like the most of her lyrics and songs, she is something special

This one's going to take a while to digest. It's like a crime scene. Each viewing gives you more detail, and you cannot look away. Musically, I like the re-interpretation a lot!

Brilliant and outstanding video. I love her music since i stole the first album and the 7" of "Wuthering Heights" from my older sister, when i was 10 years old. And then i grow up with perfect music from Kate - there is nothing better than this.
