Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Kraftwerk released "Computerlove" back in 1981, a song in which a man has a lonely night and needs a "data date". Cue forward to 2006 and Coldplay asked Kraftwerk if they could use the chord in their song "Talk". They agreed. I respect Kate Bush tremendously and she is definitely an important influence to many artists today. Lyrically and thematically she didn't go into unchartered waters however. She never did the same song twice though, unlike many other artists who often follow a very narrow formula and thus are very limited. The explanation would be the Kate started producing her own albums from The Dreaming forward so she didn't need to compromise with some big name producer wanting to produce "hit music". I understand she's completely independent now with her own label too. She's truly an inspiration to any true musician.

@@colinecollard533 You make many good points. However, and no offense to you or Kraftwerk, "Computer Love" was on a very different level. It's about a lonely guy calling a number on the screen to get a date, period. It stays on the surface of things. "Deeper Understanding", in my opinion, takes it many steps further by digging into cyberaddiction and confusing virtual relationships with real ones. That's what was/is so visionary about it.
Noel fielding and Kate Bush are both queens.
Love it. Chilling, horrifying in its way. Exactly what I expect from a teenager who gave us "Hammer Horror" and "James and the Cold Gun." She hasn't changed in terns of the profundity that compels her even if the technological has changed. She's utterly unique, an artist of extremity. This video epitomizes all that and more. Kate Bush is beyond taste, beyond fashion, and I love her for it. This video is constant rotation. Thank you, Kate Bush.
The fact she wrote this in 89 and it’s now more relevant than ever. Basically a female Bowie.

Yes. That's great Sci-Fi. Seeing where we're headed. I always imagine that Kate felt herself being super comfortable sitting with her Fairlight making wonderful music and pondered on that.
Wow! I’m actually speechless. Why have I never heard of this before? I’m blown away!
As the people here grow colder I turn to my computer And spend my evenings with it Like a friend I was loading a new program I had ordered from a magazine Are you lonely, are you lost? This voice console is a must I press Execute Hello, I know that you've been feeling tired I bring you love and deeper understanding Hello, I know that you're unhappy I bring you love and deeper understanding Well I've never felt such pleasure Nothing else seemed to matter I neglected my bodily needs I did not eat, I did not sleep The intensity increasing 'Til my family found me and intervened But I was lonely, I was lost Without my little black box I pick up the phone and press execute

This version of the song is so cool, and the song is so relevant today. I prefer the original, but this one gets a bit more experimental and a bit creepier in a way and her vocals are so raw and you can hear the distress and pain in her voice. Makes me want to throw my phone in a river. It's like KB has captured everything that makes me worry about the future, the way culture is progressing, and provides some comfort in letting us know that yes, it is a legitimate concern and not just some 'first world problem'. I wish people would take heed of her message, I hope there is some anti-digital/pro-human movement sometime soon. We need that.

TheAfrorasta Saying you're in favor of an "anti-digital movement" while watching a video on KZread on your phone/tablet/PC and then typing a response to people you don't know and will never meet? Reminds me of entertainers and politicians who proselytize about saving the environment and preserving the world's resources as they ride around in Lamborghinis and fly on their private jet airplanes. Feels good to say it though, right? P.S. I highly doubt you've thrown your phone "in a river" anytime in the last 5 years. What you have done is use it everyday, paid your monthly charges and upgraded at least once over that time period.

Kate is an Amazing Artist 💖
This came out when I was a little girl...I'm so HAPPY she is redoing the songs I helped spread across my country through love. I drug her cassette tapes everywhere! I even had an album that belonged to RCA and had "for promotional use only" on it. I LOVE KATE BUSH! And I can sing like her, too.
I had no idea this existed, and I like Kate Bush and this song (and album it's off of) quite a bit. Robbie Coltrane brought me here. RIP
The Sensual World is a special album for me - it introduced me to Kate Bush but it also represents one of the final outings for my guitar idol Alan Murphy before his untimely death. This song had an immediate effect on me - the lonely melancholic growth of addiction, shutting out the disconnect with the real world. All the original elements from 1989 are here albeit in different quantities/locations but there are two major 2011 changes: new drum and vocal tracks. Contd…

Have we all not been there ourselves... Thanks Kate for putting this into words that we all can hum to. Now where do we go from here is the question..
This speaks so much about today's virtual reality dependent world.
The new single Wild Man is equally amazing as this!!!! Bizarre yet so accesible. The drums in this track are out of this world!!
This song is prophetic not only because of computer addiction...Right now AI chatbots are developing rapidly. There already has been a situation with company that runs a companion chatbot that many customers grew emotionally attatched to. And then the company decided to re-direct the chatbot's purpose, re-programmed the chatbot, inserted scripts instead of generated responses and heavily censored the intimacy aspect. Many customers were devastated.
Seeing this clip for the first time now. I didn't even know it was a single. This is one of my favorite Kate Bush tracks. I'd play it on my radio shows round 4:00 AM. I think I preffer the album version although this, as all of her (your? are you reading this?) videos, is a superb stand-alone. Love, and deeper understanding to us all
I loved the original. I love this a whole lot more. Emotionally, technically and musically wonderful.
This must be where they got the idea for the movie Her.
AH WOW. At 1:50, when the voice says 'love', it forms the shape of a heart ! Love this.
more relevant today than ever before!
I've spent the last few weeks trying to decide whether I like this new version or not and I've come to the conclusion that I love it more than I love the original version. And I love the original. I am so excited for Director's Cut.
The first time I saw this, I thought "Kate, what have you done!" But now after just a few plays I think its awesome! People sometimes need to suspend judgement I think. Especially with a cover like this, as we are used to it being played and sung a certain way, and anything sounds wrong initially. Then man, it hit me. Kate is still the master!
My fav album to 💯❤️ track 11 i love it to

KZread is the perfect home for this music video about online addiction. Although I prefer the vocals on the 1989 album and love its sensuality, this compressed autotune version is somehow more apt for the message it conveys.
This musical upgrade serves as an improved soundtrack to the accompanying video, which itself communicates the plot most effectively. Even though old fans are familiar with the original arrangement, this version is a worthwhile adaptation & will likely catch on famously.
