@@nellies Yes, I do know what you mean about 'Pi', I love that track. 'A Coral Room' is another favourite, her voice and the piano, so exquisite. I grew up on her music in the 1980s and became mesmerized by her and her voice, from the day I saw her twirling around wildly in that red dress, in the Wuthering Heights video. She was like no one I had seen before. How wonderful that new generations like yourself, are discovering her genius. Her music is unique and timeless, for sure. A true artist that stands above and beyond most.

@@nellies I think she's always had quite a following in Europe, not sure about Sweden. She was big here in Australia. Yes, agree, when you compare her to people like Madonna, Pink, Gaga, well..there's just no comparison really. Take Madonna; a great performer, star, and 'Pop' artist in what she does, but with no where near the depth and talent as a writer and musician that Kate has, nor the sensitivity as a singer, performer and artist. Kate also continues to evolve with age and wisdom, where as Madonna stayed stuck in more or less the same image and sound, and cares more about commercial success and controversy, than true artistry. Aerial is a small masterpiece. Have you listened to 'The Sensual World' ? That's one of my favourite Kate albums too. Incredible!

@@nellies Hounds of Love is one of her best, yes agree! I love the whole dreamy, feminine, softer sound of 'The Sensual World', something about that album transports me to another place. It also contains one of the most beautiful songs ever written, 'This Woman's Work'. I've been discovering her music and videos all over again, lately. Yes, she was quite revolutionary and avant-garde for her time, still no-body like her in pop music (the only one who perhaps comes close & stands out for me, is Lana del Rey, who is quite original and creative in her writing and style). KB is also amazingly expressive dancer/mover. An all round gorgeous, classy, uniquely gifted woman. Great chatting!!

She wasn't that popular in the UK either, she has a strong fan base but she only entered the charts a few times over her long career. She released 36 singles only six got into the top ten and that is over nearly 40 years. Her albums fared better over here as all of them made it to the top ten album charts, due to her strong fanbase and the numbers needed being different.

Considering how incredible she is, she wasn't massively successful chartwise here in the UK, compared to how successful she should have been. Yes she's had a number one and a handful of top tens, but that doesn't do her justice. She is a pure perfectionist and not dictated by the current trends, so you could call her avent garde and that is not always a successful combination, but she wouldn't trade success for being true to herself. She also, only toured once until the 2010s, where she performed a number of shows. What she does have is an incredible fan base, which is still growing as younger folks discover her music. In the end real music stands the test of time.

She is a musical Goddess. She never releases anything unless it meets her own high standards for the time in question. She will even update her own work as tech advances as she did with "Directors Cut" All the songs on it she reworked as tech had advanced to the point she could truly do them as she wanted to. Mind you I disliked some of them as to me they destroyed the original heart and gut wrenching beauty of the song, for example the reworking of "This Woman's Work".

Kate bush is magnetic. I honestly only knew of her singing a womans worth. But I read about wuthering heights and so I listened to it and a few of her other songs with high views. The videos were magnetic enough that I watched them all of the way through. However I didn't realized I liked the songs until the next day when I couldn't stop singing them. Now here I am 2days after I went down the kate bush rabbit hole and I'm sprung.

“King of the Mountain” (2005) is about the death of Elvis Presley, and how many people believe he is still alive. The song also deals with the issues of stardom, drawing parallels between the late superstar and the 1941 cult classic movie “Citizen Kane” by Orson Welles. Interestingly, Kate’s drawling vocal delivery is meant to be an imitation of The King of Rock and Roll. Despite her many years of experience navigating celebrity, Miss Bush insists the piece is in no way autobiographical : “I was very much writing about Elvis […]. [That] kind of fame that he must’ve been living with must’ve been unbearable… I can’t imagine what it must be like. I don’t think human beings are really built to withstand that kind of fame.” 💚🌟💜

The wind is whistling through the house:. to me the "house" is the beast of superstardom and it sits alone without a soul to occupy it at the culmination of the twentieth century which created it. Kate speaks as a soul survivor offering a warning from the road to anyone thinking of venturing in.
