I didn’t mean the heavier weight as a negative, it was just something I noticed. I typically use the Daiwa tatula which only weighs 6.5oz vs the 9.1oz of the SD. So the extra 3oz was the first thing I noticed. But I really do love the SD, it has a super smooth retrieve. The red color y’all picked out and the bats on the reel are 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. Once I can afford to replace my shaky head rod that was stolen a couple weeks ago, I’m throwing this right on there.

If you want a light weight Kastking reel check out the Valiant Eagle. The SDS has a higher gear ratio so it has bigger internals which give it a heavier weight.

I haven’t fished for pike ever so I wouldn’t know. It’s done well with a couple of 15lb cats though lol

I got a Sharky 3 at the beginning of the year. Haven't used it a bunch because my back has given me so much trouble this year, but I liked it the few times I used it. Not sure what the major difference is, but that KK reel didn't cost anywhere near $90.

I had the sharky as well but it got stolen the other day, because I was dumb and left my shaky head set up on the front porch of my house. The sharky was great, but I think the SD is a bit smoother for sure

I would take the KK Valiant Eagle over Sharky III. I had problems with the bail, it's unbalance and a bit slower compare to Valiant Eagle. Wait for the reel to go on sale Amazon then it's a really good deal. Hope that helps :)

How did the drag perform

90$ for a reel isn't expensive I bought a shimano that was 250$ they are awesome but I bought one of these just cause it's higher gear ratio

According to amazon, it retails for $166 but it’s on sale for $99. And it weighs 9.3 oz for the 2000 size. While a pflueger president weighs 7.4 for the same size reel and it’s about half the price. I’ve have both reels and I still like the pflueger more. Honestly I don’t use anything kast king any more. Their products have no longevity

You should def fish it if you have the chance. It’s my favorite spot. I’m there a couple times a week at least
