    Perhaps they're advising you how to get the best out of a roundhouse kick, which is arguably most common in Muay Thai. Every trainer I've had has stressed the importance of the roundhouse kick.. Once that basic is mastered, Perhaps trainers would have no problem you learning this unique vertical kick... I am just exploring this idea based on my own experience. I agree its very frustrating. I believe a muay thai fighter needs to be able to roundhouse but can probably get by without this unique kick displayed here, and perhaps not the other way around

    From your older videos on the golden kick I started making it part of my regular roundhouse. So now that's the way I throw it naturally, to me that additional tip is so massive it should be a staple in teaching/learning like; going on the toes, pivoting, swinging the arms, etc.

    We learned that in our Gym. You basically throw your kick very relaxed straight up and slighty twist your hip at the end. If you are loose it becomes super fast and you can slip them in when opponents have their elbows not too close to the body (like you said) It is the best way of kicking imo. You can do the same with a lowkick. They become super fast and harder to see/block

    In my utmost humble opinion. “There is nothing more rewarding than getting ones thesis validated by those who exceeds oneself in excellence” “True Martial Skill equates to Death disguised in elegance” Impeccable as it is beautiful to observe, also to note that with this particular trajectory it enables one to kick in such a way that when applied with a proper set up/ or as a follow up technique, it is almost impossible to perceive/ detect before it lands, also to note when applying the torque with the upper body enables the kinetic energy to follow through, and when it hits you, it’s like trying to holding a hand grenade after the pin is pulled and trying to prevent it from going off by clamping your hands around it. Ie No matter if it’s hits you clean or not, ( you block/ catch/ parry the Kick) the kinetic force will still have a major impact unto one’s frame.. can’t even imagine the sensation.. Truly devastating... Appreciations for sharing these experiences with all of us Sylvie :). Sincere regards. Fellow martial artist. Tom Framnes. Norway.

    I've studied posture and bio mechanics in depth for years. My guess is the power is coming from the QL and PSOAS, which is disfucntional in the 99%. Why? Because most people don't have perfect feet(and an awful lot more reasons). Karuhat has nearly perfect alignment which is incredibly rare everywhere. at 2:40 you van see sylvie's ankle/foot alignment is off (on the left) that i would guess she could never achieve this kick (perfectly)*without addressing it first. Google location of Q.L. and you might see what I mean. He has incredible mobility in his hips, which is due to his perfect feet mechanics, which directly translates to upper spine mobility. Watching him move like that is just amazing. Reminds me something of Alex Pereira. When the foot collapses inward, it tightens the IT band. This effects the glute medius which in turn effectss the adductors. The adductor has a fascial connection to the Psoas which is connected to the QL. I will bet good money that no one with a flat foot could ever come near to this kick. Love ya stuff sylvie

    isn't the golden age of MT today? Same as any other full contact style?

  • @Animefightforum

    @Animefightforum

    4 жыл бұрын

    Nah and it's because of this: Back in the 80's - mid 90's there was the highest level of competition and fighters. These were the days when the camps still only focused on Muay Thai purely for money. The "Rules" in lumpini and radjadern stadium were different but gamblers didn't have as much power as today. So it was more of a style vs style whereas nowadays due to points (influenced heavily by gamblers) every elite thai needs to practice clinch and force clinch + throws. They can't just fight as they would. The silver age of the 60's and 70's were still developing Muay Thai techniques but the 80's and 90's had fully integrated boxing + all the unique styles of individual fighters. Think Oley, Wanchanoi, Samart, Dieselnoi, Sakad, Somrak, Karuhat, Chamuekphet and more! Tough, tough fighters. Truly, Saenchai would struggle against the calibre of these fighters. Again - the golden age allowed fighters to fight with their natural strengths and styles + there was no technology like today .. Most kids in camps have phones and ps4's to play during down time - in the 80's and 90's they had tvs and muay thai tapes to watch. Big complaint some camps have today is the amount of distraction now thanks to phones and gaming consoles which weakens the desire. for training. However --- As Muay Thai in Thailand is weakening due to tech and gambling influence, western Muay Thai is getting stronger and stronger. The gap is closing fast because "westerners" are more disciplined and dedicated (according to Samart).

    Jim Cook oh it’s a hip kick alright. Many people observing from the outside make the mistake of thinking that it is a weak kick but it is definitely not. The hip rotation occurs at the very last second before the kick makes contact. How do I know this? Well it took me about 2 years to master this kicking technique.
