Stalagmites are deposited on ground sourced by droppings from stalactite exactly upward hence, they stand a chance of connecting to form pillars.

17:54 : you forget pearl : A cave pearl is a small, usually spherical, speleothem (cave formation) found in limestone caves. Cave pearls are formed by a concretion of calcium salts that form concentric layers around a nucleus. Exposure to moving water polishes the surface of cave pearls, making them glossy; if exposed to the air, cave pearls can degrade and appear rough.

I came here to clear my confusion between sinkholes, swallow holes, dolines and uvalas. Your conception is so different form Savindra Singh's. After so much searching .. I can confidently say your conception of uvalas is wrong. Your conception about uvalas - two or more sinkholes in the same area, which other sources say is 'due to coalescence of a number of linear sinkholes'. You used sinkholes and dolines as interchangeable terms but savindra Singh conceptualises them as different landforms at (least in size). I'm still confused which is the correct conception. Rrrrrggggg why are Geographers so different in their conceptions ... What I find everywhere is confusion!!!!! Geography isn't a difficult subject , it's you the geographers that made it tough. .
