Wow, this temple and all of it’s surroundings are gorgeous. Except for the kids dinosaurs 😄 That’s nice that the temple feels peaceful.

Hey Ryan! Awesome video!.... Those female dancing statues are Tennin... Ithink. Not really found in Chinese Buddhism BUT found in Japanese Buddhism. Basically, angels or holy spirits. Tang dynasty might be thought of as one of the golden periods in China .... it wasn't a sexy time..... tang clothing was VERY unrevealing. hahahah.....thanks for sharing the temple, it looks super peaceful place!

Thank you for the clarifications Mike! So the Tang dynasty wasn't as sexy as I was led to believe? What a shame! As you can tell, Lisa and I had some trouble with the language barrier. 😆I'm still just a novice when it comes to the culture here but I do find the religious beliefs quite fascinating.

@@ryfree Sorry, my wife's a Chinese historian, so some of that rubs off here and there. Keep finding cool spots!

I studied a lot of Chinese art and architecture; I would love to visit this place once I get settled in Yuanlin.

@@ryfree I fly out at 10:30 am on the 30th. Because of the time difference, I'll arrive in Taipei at 1030pm on the 31st. There were no reasonable flights to anywhere near Yuanlin, so I'll get a capsule hotel in Taipei for 1-2 days while I get familiar with the train system. A cram school is not the ideal job, but all of the public schools took too long to give me an answer and could have been better at keeping in touch. I just needed to make this happen, so I took the first contract to fit the city/suburb location I wanted. I can think about more ideal jobs once I make connections and know my way around.

The Buddha and I have the same teaching. People in Taiwan need to stop wearing masks 😂. I didn't know this temple existed. This is real culture though I didn't know any. Miss Apollo shining. It's always raining here in north Germany. Well, Have fun!
